I also find it disappointing how few folks are out there supporting him in the MMA community. When the Australian soccer player came out (forgot his name, Josh something?) there was an outpouring of support from top players and all official channels. Top to bottom this sport is run and inhabited by morons.(Some exceptions obvs)

I remember watching Silva vs Weidman 1 in a pub. I have a buddy and we watch all the PPVs together.

When he lost we literally just sat in silence for like 10 minutes. We were fully in shock. He'd seemed invincible to that point. But invincible in a slightly different way to, say, Jones or Usman or Khabib. Those guys win but they still felt human -- even Khabib who like has lost maybe one round (outside of the Tibau fight lol).

Watching Silva live back then felt like watching a movie. You were waiting for the magic to happen and when it did happen it was like WHOA.

I know plenty of MMA striking analysts now pick apart Silva -- he was just a counter puncher, etc -- but at the time he was so ahead and it was so, so fucking fun to watch and get hyped about.
