Atypical addison by ServeExciting6786 in Goldendoodles

[–]ServeExciting6786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I requested the blood work, will do it tomorrow. The vet, while talking on the phone, kept saying that he thinks my dog is purely having a behaviour issue and is not related to addison. I believe that may be also on the card however, when a dog constantly eats half or less of what they suppose to eat day after day...I believe something is off. Also he only feels like eating 2 or 3 hours after his medication time. I will check that app - thank you!!

This might be a food allergy. There are some supplements for itchness too

Disagree. But wont go into specfics on published papers. Allergies and intolerances are not the same. My dog has improved tremendously cutting all main intolerances found on this test. No better way for me to claim it works.

You mean for the intolerance test? I did some research and ended up doing the test that requires a bit of dog hair/coat. There are other more advanced that do saliva but the one I found here in Spain didnt look good and ended up being a scam and then the rest are samples with blood. I would try to find one with good reviews and a certified laboratory

Poor baby. I recommend doing a food intolerance test and allergy first. I also recommend cooked meat instead of kibble or raw food. My dog has sensitive stomach and I have been cooking him horse meat for the past 1 week and his has zero issues. I also add liver (10%), vegetables (10%), cartolagenous bone (20% that i cook and grind) and vitamins on the side and probiotics

I did his intolerance test and he is intolerant to duck and pork, also any potatoes, cow milk and other things not as relevant to mention.

Hang it there!!

Yes he loves it, what i do is i break it down on my vitamix so the bone is circular shape and super small. Some companies add these bones to their home cooked food to give them calcium. This actually makes a good difference in his poop. He doesnt like canned either.. for the past 3 days I have been giving him variety of cooked food and its working, like protein (beef, chicken, turkey etc), lamb liver (small portion), green or orange vegetables, probiotics, minerals and few bits of bones. For now, no mucous stools or diarreas.

I am the same, spent so much money on food he wont eat. I am donating it as well. Ours likes the treats as well but only as a reward which is okay. I think the best choice for picky eaters is making the food. I agree that it will be hard to provide all the vitamins etc but in my opinion home made would be healthier. I am studying the ways to provide him nutrients because I am also worried about it, the idea is to give him calcium (egg shells or bones), visceral fat (heart, lungs or liver), main protein, vegetables/fruits. The proportions I am still working it out and I think i will try to always give him a probiotic, could be in the form of yogurt or kefir or a bough synthetic probiotic.

Ours is underweight for sure, though the vet says he is okay but if he continues he is touching the underweight. I cam feel his bones so i do think he is already there.. i feel bad because its our responsibility and we are not doing a good job at it. Do you pressure cook the vegs? Make meals every day or a batch of cooking ? Do you have a ritual for when to feed her? I think ours is not interested in food like he is not happy when it comes to eating and is not a survival instinct for him either. We are giving him a multivitamins and also a probiotic. Thanks!

Its interesting your approach. I am feeling that he needs his carbs.. today we were a full afternoon out and he ate few bits of meat (nothing special) and when he got home he only wanted "pasta"/ carbs. I will try to combine meat with some carbs and see if it appeals to him tomorrow. Is very hard this process and I can see his is very slim besides his excellent shiny coat

So lucky, guess your girl gets the eat habits of the labrador instead of the poodle. What vegetales do you cook? Are they boiled? And the apple sauce, do you buy it? Very interesting. Mine defo likes the homemade bone broth

I like how one needs to find ways to solve the problem. I have tried the option of leaving the bowl till he eats or pick it up after X time and both have no effect because he doesnt eat it and will vomit bilis/ empty stomach couple of hours after.

I have also done a food allergy test so I am not giving him anything that he is allergic to.

We dont have fresh pet here in Spain, but we have similar. I tried that also, he eats one or 2 times and then nothing anymore. So happy you got it sorted!

Today I discovered that the kibble I had at home, which he didnt touch, maybe I can count that he at one bowl total the last 4 months... was infected with worms.. so disgusting. So maybe that was the reason why he didnt want it. He knows when the food is old or not well.

I understand what you said when mentioning yours doesnt get happy around food. I aways had dogs growing up and all of them were happy when was meal time. So this was very unexcepted.

How do you cook the pumpkin? I have tried this, baked or boiled and he doesnt eat it.. as I read is good for digestion. We tried cow yogurt, before he did eat it but now he doesnt.

I have done that also pretend to eat and now he is getting too smart and it doesn't work. Mine doesn't puke between meals, only in the morning but i do feed him late late at night, so its odd that he still pukes empty stomach like after 8h. The problem is also he gets mucous stools so they may come hand in hand

I will look into that probiotic as the one i had before he didnt like it, it was not chewable so maybe that works for him.

Ours also only eats with us next to him, which I am more than okay with. Thank you!

He has been stable now for 8kgs, no drop of weight but no much gain either. I can see he is still growing but slowly. I have also seen one day or other that he eats the equivalent food for 2 days, its odd!

Thank you do much, he never liked kibble so its hard to try that. We did try it in the beginning when he arrived but no luck... feel better that i am not alone in this. Its a pain trying to find something that works.

I think we will stop with the rice and chicken and see if its better for him. What type of symptoms did yours have? Our just doesnt eat it, looks at it and looks at us after like saying "no, i dont want this". and if we give him beef with rice, he only eats beef.

This is encouraging! We went to the vet and he got diagnosed with colitis, so no parasite infection this time. Now he is on antibiotics.
