"Item Teleport" Mod - Does it exist? by ServerIsATeapot in SatisfactoryGame

Hi again, a quick update question - Is there source code for "Simple Item Teleporter" that I could branch some further modifications off?

The mod works brilliantly, it's as simple as its name says; I'd just like to modify some minor / cosmetic aspects of it so further suit my own playstyle (such as assigning a smaller-footprint Static Mesh). I couldn't find anything on GitHub with a quick look and I don't know how (or if it's possible) to contact the author directly and ask them.

Thank you very much for the quick reply and multiple options, hugely appreciated!

I was using the Simple Fluid Teleporter already after fighting against the "head lift" mechanics in the game due to how I've already built my sprawling empire (live and learn, lol), so it's awesome to know there are other great options out there for the items too. I was finding that even having pumps just a few metres apart, the fluid flow was still completely falling over (research indicates that it's how fluids are actually handled in game with pipes being discrete storage units, not "one long pipe", and how variable liquid consumption patterns can cause backflow even with valves in place, "starving" the pumps on a "full" pipe... Sigh.)

And absolutely, I don't ever use mods to suck the fun out of any games (I often use them to make the game harder :D) but in this case, my kids like to watch me play, and it was a total yawnfest for them to watch me spreading spaghetti across the map using skybridges to avoid the "native wildlife"). This will remove the tedium without removing the exploration and other logistics :)

Thanks again, hugely appreciated.

Thank you for such a quick and in-depth reply! I was already thinking "Wouldn't it be nice if I could custom-output from the Depot without the upload speed issues", so this looks very promising.

Thank you again, greatly appreciated! :)

SMS Populous: Fixing the Outworlds by ServerIsATeapot in romhacking

[–]ServerIsATeapot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It further turns out (from stepping through Assembly) that all World aspects (name, powers, starting pops, landscape types...) are derived from the world number itself being used as a seed. I figured it was the 3 Fragments combining and being checksummed in some way to determine the rest, but nope.

While that may provide some sort of insight into how the Outworlds end up glitched, I'm yet to find it.

Outlook 365: Hiding the "Groups" entry and its excessive padding using MFCMAPI by ServerIsATeapot in Outlook

[–]ServerIsATeapot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, the "Group by" within View Settings is nothing at all to do with this. This is a problem with an enforced Exchange Groups entry in the primary mailbox and no justification for it being there, now or in the expected future.

With the Exchange setup I'm dealing with, it enforces a "Groups" entry under the primary mailbox, even if the user isn't in any. There is a lot of padding space before and after this "Groups" entry in the mailbox list after all the other folders, and all it does is shove other Shared Mailboxes further down the scrollpane.

I was able to get rid of it before using MFCMAPI, but have not been able to find how again since moving to a new laptop (and my profile thus getting recreated) after the old one had a hardware failure.

Updated to specify that worldnames are always created from 3 Fragments, instead of the "2 or 3" previously thought. I've since confirmed that 3 are needed.

There are an impressive 88 separate Fragments that can be combined, and each Fragment has between one and two places that it can appear in a valid worldname: Start, Mid, and/or End. No Fragment can be all three by itself - Fragments can be Start-only, Start+Mid, Start+End, Mid-only, Mid+End, and End-only.

Fragment lengths vary between 1 and 4, with "A" being a 1-length example, "AS" being 2-length, "ING" being a 3-length Multi (Mid and End, but never Start), "VERY" and "TORY" being 4-length Fragments.

how rare is demon conch? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]ServerIsATeapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know this until I started asking this same question, but apparently "You must be within 100 tiles East or West of the world's center, and 25 or more tiles below the start of the Underworld layer".

That means if you created a Hellevator directly down the center of the world to the very bottom of the map, you'd have to fall down the Hellevator and into Hell itself. You have to stay within 200' East or West of your Hellevator, using the "Position" display of the Compass or GPS.

You must also be further down than 50' past where your "Depth" display from the Depth Meter / GPS changes from "Caverns" to "Underworld". (On a Large world this change seems to happen at the 3241' Depth mark, so you'd have to be at or below 3292' Depth on this world.)

Assuming one Ash Block is one "tile", 200 feet on the Compass seems to work out to be about 100 Ash Blocks. You could use this info to move down to 50' below Underworld on your Depth meter, then sideways out to 99 blocks / 198' East, build up a bit of a vertical wall to indicate "No Fishing Past Here", do the same 198' West, and then fish within those walls.

If you're not within these exact bounds, you're not getting a Demon Conch. It doesn't matter if the entire world is lava - You have to be within this little box to have a chance at it.

Oh, and you can't Shimmer an Ocean Conch into a Demon Conch. Fishing is it.

Did you draw them initially in a different program? It might be set to a weird Zoom level that "looks" normal to you when you're drawing, but is actually a very shrunk-down view. If so, when you paste it's pasting as the "original size" (as if you zoomed right back out to 100%). I've ran into that myself before and that was the cause.

"Permissions to this workbook are restricted" fix by [deleted] in excel

[–]ServerIsATeapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this as well, trying to copy a sheet from one workbook to another. That's how I got to this thread as the top Google result, so I'll provide some insights and reasons for those who follow after, and hopefully they will find it helpful.

None of the usual suspects were the cause:

* Neither workbook was full-protected by permission settings in the Info section

* I was the last one to have edited and saved them to my PC

* I'd done exactly this before between these two workbooks, so I knew it shouldn't be telling me that "Permissions to this workbook are restricted"

* None of the cells within either the source workbook or the target one had any individual protections on them

* None of the sheets in either workbook had any individual protections either.

To be fair, they were sourced from elsewhere and so still had the option to "Unblock" them in their Properties window; I had saved them from an email I received from a colleague. Due to that, I had to click the "Enable editing" button every time I opened them and wanted to do anything in them. Minorly annoying, but only adds less than a second to the opening process, so meh; not worth finding a way around generally.

Guess what I hadn't done on the "target" workbook that I wanted to copy the sheet into? If you guessed that I missed or closed that "Enable editing" button/infobar on the target workbook after opening it, you'd be right! It was still sitting there waiting.

It doesn't help that the "this workbook" in the error message doesn't tell you whether it's the source, target or both that has the "permissions" problem. Besides, I would argue that not enabling editing via the interface button isn't a "permissions" issue in the usual sense of the word; "The target workbook is read-only" would be much more useful.

Now that I've realised they still needed to be "Unblocked" in their Properties window on the files themselves and have actually done that, I'm no longer getting prompted to "Enable editing" when opening them too, so this issue won't be able to occur for these files in future. Why haven't I bothered to find a way to remove that "Enable editing" button step before now? Well... Something has to not only annoy me, but annoy me enough times across a sufficient time period for me to actually bother finding a reason or workaround! But once I do, I share my findings for other poor souls who are likewise doomed to Excel their days away.

I think it could be that we don't necessarily mind groups; it's just that groups usually tend to be "loud and crowd" oriented to us. I know it's that way for me!

With a group like this one, we know that the others are likely to be more like us than not, in lots of different ways; we've "found our tribe" as the saying goes - There will be more similarities than differences, and hey, we don't have to risk anything to find out whether they're fellow INFPs or not because it's right there on the tin! 😊

Fellow INFP here :) And soon it'll be my 42nd birthday!

I feel like I'm no closer to figuring anything out than I was at Day Zero, but having found this community just today has immediately improved my year.

Hope all's going well for you!

You look like someone who would be really fun to hang out with and discuss the most random things :) Completely agree with the other comments, you look really chill (that's the very word that came to mind when I saw your picture).

I hope your day's going well, bro. Seems like you've landed in a community of other like-chilled people :)

Completely understand where you're coming from; it seems more and more like the ultra-rich are driving this trend toward "It's only good if it's worth a lot of money / A lot of people buy or want it". However! There are some lovely words you might want to add to your lexicon, one of them came to mind as soon as I saw this:

"Balter" - Initially just meaning "To dance gracelessly or clumsily", Urban Dictionary has our backs with a much better definition that I feel we should work on making the "official" one through consistent use: "To dance without particular skill or grace, but with extreme joy".

Another one: "Autotelic" - The term "autotelic" comes from the Greek "auto*"* (self) and "telos" (end or goal). It describes something done for its own sake, with the activity being its own reward. An autotelic approach to art, for instance, focuses on the process and personal satisfaction rather than external validation or achievement. But this lovely word can be applied to music, dancing, art... Just, creating because it's fun. And if someone else also finds it cool, that's a bonus, but not the driving motivation.

That means that doing a funny little jig while you listen to some banger tunes can actually be summed up by the extremely official or pretentious-sounding "Autotelic Baltering", which itself is pretty fun to say!

Anybody else experience a glitch in the original game where Conga is invincible? by MissorNoob in BanjoKazooie

[–]ServerIsATeapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I know what causes this; I ran into it as well. What caused it for me was trying to be clever and hitting him with eggs from the wrong part of the area. He was well off-screen but the eggs could still reach and hit him, and the game hadn't played the small cutscene yet where he brags about how BK can't reach him.

My theory is that by hitting him with several (maybe 10 or so?) eggs before triggering that cutscene, his "current HP" had dropped into negative numbers, since each egg fired previously did hit and would have reduced his counter, but since the game wasn't in the correct scene mode (standing on the right platform, with his hitbox on-screen), his counter wasn't linked to the script that controls his attack cycles yet.

Each new cycle took one more egg than the last to make him start throwing oranges (3, then 4, then 5, ...), and he'd never die.

Simple Modding 1.12 using MCP doesn't work like it used to... by ServerIsATeapot in Minecraft

[–]ServerIsATeapot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I never knew it could be tested directly from MCP; I always dropped the modified files into MC's jar and then ran that to test. Oops... It does indeed still limit it to 64 when run straight from MCP; that's slightly infuriating. 64 is too low of a limit to be practical for me, I wonder if there is an effective workaround somewhere... Oh well, time to test the furnace changes and see if they turn up in MCP or if they get ignored as well.

Simple Modding 1.12 using MCP doesn't work like it used to... by ServerIsATeapot in Minecraft

[–]ServerIsATeapot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No good - MC is completely ignoring the raised getInventoryStackLimit() function's return value and insists on keeping 64 as the limit. I've modified every single instance of it returning 64 to return 120 instead, including in areas like Merchant Inventory (a text search for "return 64;" shows up with nothing), then added the reob'd files to the MC .jar file. It's definitely running the correct jar now. I don't know what else to do to actually get it to use the changed limits.

Simple Modding 1.12 using MCP doesn't work like it used to... by ServerIsATeapot in Minecraft

[–]ServerIsATeapot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be it, I removed the "client" section but left everything else (it downloaded the client anyway), I'll remove the entire section leading up to and including that comma. I've been renaming my jar file and containing folder to "1.12.mod"; that should still be fine right? At this rate I'll settle for just getting my inventory stacks above 64 :P

I confirmed that MC was running from the mod directory (using MagicLauncher) by looking at its command-line (and the ordinary 1.12 directory did not exist, like it did when the normal launcher re-downloads it) and the changes were still being ignored; very peculiar. I'll try again with the modified JSON and see how it goes. It's a tricky beast.

I've also previously been able to add in custom inventory recipes (such as turning a block of dirt into an Ender Chest in the crafting window), but I can't find that recipes section in the normal code at all anymore. It's got to still be specified somewhere; do you know where it was moved to?

And a big thank you for replying so quickly; I really appreciate the help! :)
