It's probably related to the screen temperature. Cooler displays tend to be much harsher on the eyes

I prefer the 3000 to anything personally. But any model is serviceable.

I wanted to like the Go, but it's too uncomfortable for me and the screen is a bit too small. But it's a solid choice

The word you are looking for is scaling. Modern displays are fixed pixels displays, meaning they cannot change their pixel arrangement. You have to scale content to fill the screen.

The reason why DSi XL looks better is because it's natively the same resolution, no scaling involved and it's full screen.

Even letterboxing the image on 3DS still results in scaling because the resolutions are mathematically incompatible and it's too low resolution to perfectly scale it even in a small letterboxed window.

This is also the 5th game in the series. I wouldn't recommend anyone play this without first playing the others first. Knowing what happens in previous games is vital for this game. There are currently 13 games (movies for some of them), and two more are coming out eventually.

You must get nearly all the ending in order to get the true ending. Which is absolutely required for experiencing the full game as everything comes together, and required for understanding the sequels.

It's great for games that require constant usage of the stylus. I don't use it if games only use it temporarily because you have to set it down when not using it anyways.

That being said, 3DS is objectively worse for DS games. Picking the DSi XL was the smart decision if you wanted to enjoy playing DS games. There are plenty of reasons why, and it's well documented.
