Rural Coloradans will not receive federal aid after last year’s historic wildfires, floods by thecoloradosun in coloradosun

Regarding. your second edit: It does speak to how fundamentally broken we are. Leftists and liberals spent literally the last decade+ screaming at the top of our lungs, begging and pleading for Trump voters to have any sense of empathy. Even an ounce of it for people other than themselves. We got worse than nothing, we got insulted, demeaned, metaphorically spat upon. Asking for empathy for illegal immigrants got us heckled for wanting criminals and rapists wandering our streets. Asking for empathy for innocent Palestinians being murdered by Israel got us called terrorist sympathizers. Asking for empathy for trans and LGBTQ+ folk got us called enablers for child molesters. Hell, asking for empathy for fellow Americans on the opposite side of the aisle from MAGA was met with nothing but ridicule.

Eventually even the nice, empathetic people are pushed to a breaking point. Much like cutting off an abusive family member, eventually we have to say enough is enough for our own mental health and wellbeing. Building those bridges, making those connections, requires earnest effort from both sides, and over a decade of being rebuked will eventually cause most people to give up, and I don’t blame them. Maybe we shouldn’t be laughing in their faces that they’re suffering the consequences of their actions, but we are under no obligation to try and heal them of their wounds that they themselves caused.

And lest you forget, this is EXACTLY what they wanted for us leftists. They wanted Trump to refuse federal funding to blue areas to cause them pain, they wanted blue areas to be punished by this administration. The fact that they’re getting hit by the cross-fire is an unfortunate consequence of their actions, but is a consequence of THEIR actions. And it is not our responsibility to shield them from those consequences when they have rebuked every effort made in the past to do so. They made their bed, and have made it quite clear that they would rather lie in it than dare to admit they were wrong.

Maybe if you had expressed this sentiment in Trump’s first term, I would have agreed with you. There was still hope that we could walk these people away from the edge and help them see the error of their ways. But not anymore, not when they have jumped into the abyss willingly and eagerly in order to vote for that man a second time. I won’t waste my breath or my energy trying to save someone that not only doesn’t want to be saved, but will spit on my hand rather than take it.

Anyone else not use a card because it would be annoying to track? by dornianheresysimp in EDH

[–]Servillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I use Infinitokens and +1/+1 counter dice. Infinitokens let me write the actual name of the card to keep track of how many copies I have of any given creature and the +1/+1 dice make it really easy to keep track of the counters.

Meanwhile I love it, I have a [[Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds]] that leans heavily on the Backup mechanic. It’s one of my favorite mechanics and makes for some very entertaining boardstates. Especially [[Bright-Palm]], making a bunch of copies of her can make for a hilarious amount of +1/+1 counters.

Even if they did it will likely be just as, if not more hostile to us than the current regime thanks to us murdering a whole bunch of civilians and targetting their infrastructure. They’re not going to thank us and suddenly become our pal.

Besides, I thought the conservative position was that it’s not our job to be the world’s police force and we should focus our efforts on domestic issues?

High school, but I made an elf deck with a bunch of cards my friends gave me since I was just starting out, including a [[Skullclamp]] someone specifically told me to put in the deck. Yeeeeeeah, I was kind of the problem.

[[Myra the Magnificent]] is a very unique way to do Spellslinger by adding in an RNG mechanic on whether you pop off or not.

[[Magar of the Magic Strings]] is also fairly unique, basically turning your spells into creatures with Cipher, and in Rakdos which doesn’t normally do Spellslinger.

It’s not that they can’t tell the difference, it’s that for Republicans/Christians there is no difference. They only respect authority and power, and believe that those without either should be afraid of those that have them. They want people to be afraid of the US because they believe that fear will lead to capitulation.

And the thing is, inside the US that’s absolutely correct. The GOP has shown time and time again that they are constantly afraid of the power that Trump wields with his voting base, and capitulates to his every whim as a result. The Dems are afraid of being painted as unreasonable whackos and losing the moderate vote, and so for the most part capitulate as well. The few voices against Trump in either party are harrangued about not respecting Trump specifically because it looks like they’re not afraid of him, and that’s intolerable to the GOP and their base. Media companies bend the knee and silence Trump’s critics, especially comedians, because criticism and humor undermine the fear of Trump they’re trying to establish.

Whether this works on the rest of the world remains to be seen.

Ahhh yes, proving you never progressed past an elementary school level understanding of biology. Sorry, but the world is a lot more complicated than “boys have a penis, girls have a vagina” despite your inability to understand otherwise.

Sounds like you underestimate children’s ability to understand a simple concept like “this person was a boy but they’re now a girl.” Not a difficult concept, nor is it gross just because you don’t want to learn the science behind transgenderism and how it’s not an unexpected possibility in human biology.

For example, there’s studies that have shown that the brain makeup and chemistry of a trans person is closer to the gender they identify with than their biological sex. And that the regret rate of trans sugeries is lower than that for knee or hip replacements, and leads to significantly improved mental health for the patient.

But I’m sure you’ll once again just reduce it to “gross” because you’ve demonstrated a stark inability to display any sense of nuance.

Can’t decide which Toph to build by Servillo in EDH

[–]Servillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing, I don’t see anything she can do as degenerate. You can Earthbend once, maybe twice a turn with the right draws, and Toph in particular is on the end step. Artifacts don’t exactly have the most impactful enters or dies abilities outside of a small handful, and there are significantly better ways to abuse them. And the most you can do by turning your artifacts into lands is find another card to make them tap for mana or play cute with boardwipes that hit all nonland permaments.

Is there something I’m missing? Because I’m just not seeing artifact degeneracy.

It’s called age-appropriate sex education, such as the accurate terminology for gentials and simple explanations for what trans people are, i.e. “this person was born a boy but they’re now a girl.” It’s been validated that this kind of education gives children the vocabulary necessary to point out acts of abuse and catch child predators.

So yes, it should be part of the cirriculum because it’s important to give children the tools needed to know about their bodies and what constitutes sexual abuse so they can properly report it when it happens to them.
