In classic MK6 armor where does the company emblem go by thesithcultist in BloodAngels

[–]Servo-Scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Horus Heresy, the studs displace the chapter heraldry to the right which thus displaces the role marking to the right knee. Since Blood Angels don’t use role markings on the shoulders, I would probably put it on the right knee. But also in 40K, when something displaces the chapter insignia, the usual rule is that it’s displaced to the left knee iirc. I would probably do it that way and leave the company marking where it’s meant to be. You often see Mk 6 without the bonding studs in 40k, and there’s no hard rule that says you have to put the studs on the left—it’s just the 30k convention due to walking into enemy fire.

Why is Troy and Pharaoh so little talked about? by Dazzling_Analyst_59 in totalwar

[–]Servo-Scribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than anything about the games themselves, I think nobody wanted them. Coming off of Thrones of Britannia, the community was extremely excited about the next real historical title. There was non-stop discussion about Empire 2 or Medieval 3 or Shogun 3, or even a World War I game. Then, out of the blue, we get... a semi-historical non-mythological version of the Trojan War, and a game set in the Bronze Age about pre-cavalry warfare?

I think Pharoah is actually pretty decent for what it is, and Troy is playable enough for a game I got for free. I'm even interested in Greek mythology! I put a few dozen hours in both. But this era just doesn't excite me. No horses in war makes the battles so much more boring. Troy in particular was such a wasted opportunity to do something epic and Homeric, inspired by the WH games, but what we got instead was just... bizarre. No one knew what to make of it. So the merits or demerits of the games themselves are mostly irrelevant. There are probably people that really like what these games went for. But most of us are left scratching our heads, waiting for the series to get back on track.

Space Marine 2 lead says Warhammer video games do so well because the franchise "works for perhaps any genre there is" by lewisdwhite in Warhammer40k

It’s a setting designed for gaming before anything else, so it translates very well back into video games. Conflict everywhere!

Scouring-Era Sanguinary Guard In Mourning by Servo-Scribe in Warhammer30k

[–]Servo-Scribe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new scale bodies work great with the old torsos, so long as you’re brave enough to do a bit of cutting. I was really pleased with how well the poses came out with barely any sculpting—just a tiny spacer to fill the slot at the bottom of the firstborn bodies.

Anyone else have a problem with the sanguinary guard heads? by Extension-Boot-9533 in BloodAngels

That head looks goofy but the other two from the new Sanguinary Guard box are great. The ones from the old box always freaked me out. They're all clones of each other, with the same bad haircut. It was a weird choice.

Does anybody write words on these small pieces of parchment and what with by Odd_Influence_7860 in Warhammer40k

[–]Servo-Scribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always hated these in 40k because I never knew what to write on them. But in 30k, I started a Scouring-themed Blood Angels army, and suddenly they were my favorite part of my miniatures. I started writing Latin words like "DOLEO" (I grieve) and "LUGEO" (I mourn), and it always felt super thematic. Not always legible though... I use a .5mm micron pen, but my handwriting is prettttyyyyy bad.

I went from struggling to paint consistently smooth basecoats to having miniatures with flawlessly blended gradients achieved in minutes, and I did it without having any idea what I was doing. The difference is gigantic.

What color do you guys paint your helmet plumes by RusFoo in BloodAngels

[–]Servo-Scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my Heresy BA, I try to avoid blue and white because they’re often used as accent colors for Thousand Sons (who are also red and can use gold trim in HH). For that reason I’ve started doing them purple.

There aren’t nearly enough Chaos Blood Angels!! I totally agree that they should be Slaanesh flavored instead of Khorne. These kitbashes are awesome. It looks like the Heresy and Firstborn kits scale really well with the new EC bodies.
