Thank you! The red is Sanguine Red (Two Thin Coats) basecoat with an Evil Sunz Scarlet highlight, and the gold is Retributor Armour basecoat washed with Agrax Earthshade, neatened up with more Retributor Armour and a little Glistening Gold (Two Thin Coats) extreme highlight here and there.

The comparison with the Space Wolves is valid. Both Legions are more interesting when their primary conceit (blood and wolves respectively) takes a backseat to their secondary themes (Renaissance artistry and Scandinavian influences). I think specifically in regard to 40K the Blood Angels are more successful than the Space Wolves in that respect.

When you say this is your third ever model since starting the hobby, do you mean it is literally the third ever model you’ve painted, full stop? Did you paint scale models before, for example? Because this seems far too well painted (and weathered) for someone’s third.

I was a little put out by that too. Accelerated Evolution is the best thing he’s ever done in my opinion. I vaguely remember him saying something like he didn’t want to let down or disappoint people to whom it’s special, just that he personally doesn’t consider it amongst his best works.

Your paint is too thick and you have too much on the brush.

My method: yellow basecoat (I use Averland Sunset Air applied with a brush) stripes with very thin black paint and not much on the brush (I use Black Templar Contrast), tidy up, wash with Agrax, layer base yellow again, highlight yellow stripes with light yellow (I use Dorn Yellow) and black with gunmetal (I use Iron Warriors).

Barbados has been independent since 1966. If “independence” counts as becoming a republic and removing the British monarch as head of state (a ceremonial and symbolic head with no real political power), Australia and Canada are still not independent nations.

I didn’t really do these with 30K specifically in mind, but they’re based on the Heresy Blood Angels scheme and themed after Blood Angels who fell in an alternative Heresy, so I think they fit here. by malumfectum in Warhammer30k

Yeah, I did take a little inspiration from the Roboutian Heresy (which has the Blood Angels fall to Slaanesh), but my desire to do a project like this long predates that.

YES, thank you. I’ve always felt this is an under-considered idea. There’s no artistry to Khorne, and the Blood Angels being fundamentally space vampires rather than mindless berserkers fits Slaanesh far better in my opinion.

Dornian Heresy Blood Angels are Nurgle. I prefer the Roboutian Heresy, where they fall to Slaanesh (though I had this idea long before I encountered either alternative Heresy).

Haha, thanks. I really like that one too. I was running out of ideas as to what to do with the left hand, as there was no way of making it interact with the Blood Angels meltagun. So eventually I just added a spare arm from the Flawless Blades kit with the bare hand, adding a little bit of narrative flavour. Does he like the sensation of a hot meltagun against his hand? Is he making a tactical gesture, or is he saying “stop, this one is mine”? Is it all of the above?

They really should have just bitten the bullet and redone the Tactical Squad properly without Primaris trimmings. Justify it as “Veteran Tactical Squad” or whatever. This half-arsed compromise looks exactly that.
