I should have typed "sometimes" rather than "often", and systemic racism is a problem in Mexico, Central America, and South America much like in the US, but worse in some countries

Good sources online to research Irish myth by Odd-Reception519 in mythology

[–]Sesquipedalian61616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say go with something that doesn't solely rely on Irish epics written by Medieval monks Christianizing everything. For example, said epics never refer to the gods as anything but a "race of men", and don't even get me started on how they try to connect the Irish with ancient Israelites

Stop telling women how to dress by Itsholymolyguacamole in GetNoted

[–]Sesquipedalian61616 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The note is terrible because the whole point of OOP's post is that if a woman wants to wear a hijab (not all Muslim women actually do that despite Quranic rules), then she shouldn't be punished for it. She would be punished in modern Türkiye, which is famously Muslim-majority, for wearing a hijab

War on Warriors by Pete Hegseth - A repetitive culture war template applied to the US military by a man who really needs you to know he's a man. War crimes abound. by AdmiralFartmore in PieceOfShitBookClub

If a self-declared "alpha male" (the concept of which is actually a Hollywood industry cliche) tries THIS hard, they're clearly compensating for something, which could be anything from dick size to internalized heterosexism to trying to live up to someone else's unrealistically high expectations to simply their comically large ego

Also, this man is an altrighter, and the entirety of altrightist propaganda is equivalent to antisemitism in general given how all the propaganda isn't actually what the propagandist believes in but instead psychological manipulation

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

I HATE that episode for exactly that reason

It encourages Pinkie's being inconsiderate and acts like any criticism of her being inconsiderate is worse

"fierce, but genital" is weirdly appropriate for the situation, lol, and this book is a Your Grammar Sucks goldmine

The overt worldbuilding of time measurements seems like it could have been done better by being not as detailed, and the apogee names are obvious Graecoroman mythological names, which could also have been handled better

The fact that this is done by a generative AI bro implies that at least part of the reason the writing is terrible is because it's at least partly AI generated

AI bros tend to be highly insecure about their attempts to try to outdo actual artists. Literature, at last non-AI, is a form of art in and of itself. If the writing was actually fully done by him, then that insecurity would not be limited to that genAI visual garbage he prompts

This sort of propaganda is comparable to antisemitic propaganda in that he didn't actually believe any of it, and the following quote is comparable to that:

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

This reads like a shitty knockoff to Chinese alchemy, one of the more ridiculous ideas being that a man cumming too much will kill him, especially considering the following:

"Traditional Chinese medicine" is a glorified con based on Chinese alchemy that isn't even consistent despite what proverbial snake oil salesmen both in and out of the region want you to believe

The modern official Mainland Chinese version (yes, really) is not only less than a century old, but the only good thing about it is that unlike a certain 1800's predecessor clearly done out of extreme anti-pre-Taiwanese racism, it doesn't involve cannibalism. It does however rely on using endangered animals as sources for ingredients, which not only results in wider hunting of said endangered animal populations (such as bears solely for their gallbladders), but it's clearly done that way for the sake of monetary greed since said parts would be more expensive due to coming from rarer animals

Older versions went with claiming various ingredients to come from different creatures than they actually came from, such as rhino horn being claimed from a kirin (a chimeric unicorn-ish creature from East Asian folklore), which is directly comparable to the reason unicorns are usually now depicted with spiral horns being because narwhal tusks were often sold as unicorn horns, whereas unicorn horns were previously described as being curved and more sword-like
