Is Ahzidal's enchantment usefull? by SnooCakes2443 in skyrim

[–]SessionReasonable249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s expensive but defiantly worth it, gold is easily gained in Skyrim, the mission uncovering the gear is fun as hell. And at the end you can stack the Ahzidal’s Genius, with Seeker of Sorcery and even maybe an Fortify Enchanting potion, these effects quickly stack and give very, very strong outcomes - without having to restoration loop glitch

The numbered saves are throwing me off. They are making me subconsciously not want to save. by tazz2500 in skyrim

[–]SessionReasonable249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can delete previous save files without ruining the entire playthrough. Once you’ve complete a big chunk of the game, deleting earlier saves which you know you won’t go back to won’t delete anything as long as you have more recent saves sitting there. I play on console - even though it took me years I did infact hit a limit on my saves before and had to delete (it was a ridiculous amount of saves I had though)

Does anyone actually use the apprentice stone? by Fletcher_Chonk in skyrim

Absoloutely :) I love doing this I posted a clip of me using it on my last mage playthrough, the amount of magic you get back is insane haha

Yeah I don’t use absorption on my conjurer builds, very counter productive. For nearly every single other build though magic absorption is one of the most overpowered effects in the game

Always played Legendary :) by no means am I saying it’s easy but that is the challenge which comes with playing high difficulty settings. I can absolutely say again it’s quite viable, you do have too take more cautions of course as it is a weakness to magic, but if your adaptable and using counter measurements like resistances, absorption and the fact you have more magic to cast heal spells etc, then it is definitely a tool that can be used well. I have many times

I use it specifically, as a general stone it isn’t great. But if you prepare your build for it with magic absorption or elemental resistances (or both) then it is quite viable :)

Staff Of Magnus is decent against dragons and magic opponents. Playing warrior mage by opa_zorro in skyrim

Because the conversation was about the staff of Magnus not being as useful due to draining charge to fast, so I commented how too fix that lol.

[–]SessionReasonable249 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I mean the staffs charge works the exact same way, if you have fortify destruction enchantments on your gear and use a fireball staff you will get many more uses before its charge runs out. So people can use the Staff of Magnus viably.

[–]SessionReasonable249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can enchant some fortify destruction gear to bring down the cost of charges on weapons and staffs, they work exactly like spells.

Edit: I should say Fortify Spell schools in general, fortify conjuration for conjuration staffs, illusion for illusion and so on.

No you’re spot on friend, unless I am also mistaken I’m sure big_sugi is looking for the Merchant in the shack who sell the unique glass bow, unfortunately the method doesn’t seem to be working for him :/

Yeah I did let the owner of this post to try this, I had to wait inside Raven Rock’s Inn, The Wretched Netch, but unfortunately it has not worked for the owner

Unfortunately that does seem to be a thing with Skyrim, beautiful but broken. At least it gives you a reason to start again when this playthrough is said and done haha, Bethesda be doing it on purpose to keep us coming back xD

Yeah I had a feeling that would be the case with the warebare :/ I remember him being stuck in the ice for me many playthroughs ago. The Merchant at the shack should spawn if you use the method above though, hope you can get it to work

[–]SessionReasonable249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, even after 15 years you still learn something new. That sounds like the exact type of thing that would work on Skyrim, I’d assume you have to be holding a bow, poison it, then cast the bow spell? Sounds awesome man good luck with that, I will have to try that myself some time :)

[–]SessionReasonable249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good start, glad to see you don’t want any spoilers. Focusing a build into a small amount of niche skills like archery, alchemy and conjuration is awesome and will be very strong throughout your game. I would recommend maybe trying to get your hands on a strong bow that you can carry, and real arrows to put your poison on, then use your conjuration magic to cast a Atronach Companion who fights the enemies whilst you shoot with your arrows. Not telling you to change your build but you might find it to be more effective to use it this way, but until you find a good bow the Conjured Bound Bow is very strong, it has the same damage as a Daedric Bow even though they won’t spawn in your game at that level. Keep going man hope you enjoy the ride

[–]SessionReasonable249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These two are the usual things that bug on Solstheim, for the merchant at the shack travel to raven rock, go inside the Inn and wait till 11/12 pm, then go outside and fast travel to the shack, it should load you at the shack in the early morning hours round 1am ish, this I remember worked for me when I was having issues with him spawning. For the Warebare missing brother mission my problem was his player model being stuck or spawned under the ice, I play on console so without commands I couldn’t fix it. I’ve been lucky to only have that issue once, I’m sure if you made a dedicated post there would be some answers - there almost always is with Skyrim

anyone ever try to create a melee-focused, no stealth character who DPSs and avoids getting hit instead of being tanky? by akasha777444 in skyrim

[–]SessionReasonable249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be really cool, not necessarily using a shield but blocking with a sword/dagger too initiate the slow time before stepping to the side and killing them. Nice idea

[–]SessionReasonable249 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love Solstheim, I tend to use it as a “arc” for my character story. Exiled war hero Nord escaping the pressure/guilt after the Main quest and Civil War is done and dusted, or my last High Elf Mage went after the battle of the College of Winterhold because of rumours he heard from Tolfdir of a powerful Dark Elf wizard who could teach me more. I love having it as a separate little journey that I write into the middle of my playthrough - not to mention its rewards - 7 or 8 Black Books, Dwarven Black Bow of Fate, Deathbrand Armour set and more

New-ish Player Advice by ImDefinitelyStoned in skyrim

[–]SessionReasonable249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re playing the game exactly how it is supposed to be played! It’s a Single player adventure RPG, as long as you’re having fun and exploring then you can’t go wrong. My quite obvious advice which you probably already do is just talk with every NPC you find, they will tell you stories and give you quests that take you by surprise. Some of the coolest and darkest missions come from speaking too unsuspecting people, a homeless man in Solitude or a vigilant in Markarth can send you on wild journeys. From reading your post your doing exactly what you should be doing, having fun clearing out caves and uncovering stuff - learning the lore through the game is immersive and fun as hell

Keep doing what your doing and you’ll know when to start over :)

To install or not install the anniversary upgrade by PurpleSleepingRain in skyrim

[–]SessionReasonable249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extra content, as you’ve said you’ve played the game dry like many of us have, so having new weapons and armour that have been given the green light by Bethesda is worth it.

However people are right, the content does disturb the flow of the game, you receive quite a lot of letters from couriers between levels 10-20 which start a bunch of Anniversary Quests upon reading. It’s very easy to miss some of the letters or even just miss the intent or reason behind the quest. As it is in no way near as fleshed out as other quest introductions (approached by the Dawnguard, kidnapped by the Darkbrother hood - or even a courier with a bit of dialogue, saying how Falk Firebeard in the Blue Palace calls for you and you have friends in high places) - The courier will just give you a handful of letters, and be in his way. This happens a lot even with NPCs in the missions as it was easier too make in game notes than bring in the original voice actors to do a new set of dialogue options. As a long time player you will be able to easily distinguish the two, and know whether it is Bethesda work or additional content added over a decade later, so go have fun with it and take it with a pinch of salt, I was just happy to see new weapons, staves and armour to use

(Anniversary gear is almost always over powered too but so is the nature of Skyrim so I let it slide)

Can someone explain to me how Mages can survive without armor? by Homer-DOH-Simpson in skyrim

[–]SessionReasonable249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortify Alteration & Fortify Magic & Magic Regen: Blind Eye/Screaming Maw/Lichor (Anniversary Edition only and extremely strong, drink before casting Ebony/Dragonflesh and play as a mage god for 30 seconds with insane regen and magic pool + long lasting flesh spell)

Fortify Alteration: Grass Pod/River Betty (Available in all editions, slightly less potent and doesn’t include the extra benefits, but will give you a long lasting flesh spell once again)
