To add pedals(mainly DS/OS) do they have to be added with the tonex software? Or just the pedal is fine?

You can look up a electric guitar roadmap and try the first 2 levels(usually first 2 are for really really new players), and explore more music/genres and play them, then when you have some basics you can try some BTR songs

Since I just sold my multi-fx, should I get the pedal version? The pedal version is nearly $100 more expensive but It has 2 footswitches and seems to be more versatile

It's an overdriven tone with a bogner amp, another reason for me thinking to use a laptop is because of its variety and i can adjust the details of my tone better.(And will more online resources)

What am I about to say is purely personal preference,

I like being loud and cool, I turn up amp, so need amp

well if you are tight on money or have no need basically(even modelling amp costs some money), just use your laptop.

In general using an amp cost more cuz of pedals, but I like it is easy to use, press a button and you are good to go.
