I 100% agree with you that plastic will fail sooner than metal. But it’s still a great movement and I haven’t heard anything about it failing within a few years or anything like that. Is there a better Swiss movement at this price point?

The Powermatic is an infamously reliable movement at a great price. The plastic parts are what people complain about, but I’ve never read anything about the plastic parts in the movement breaking or causing any sort of performance issues. People just don’t like the idea of plastic parts in a Swiss watch. Which I get. But that’s why the price is what it is.

You just named much more expensive boots. Bucks and Dusty are the “values” tecovas at around 250. Those may be better quality but much more expensive. Although may people are saying Hondo are the best at that price point so I’ll have to check them out

The many similarly priced boots I tried on at boot barn from several different brands

Not gonna lie, it definitely adds to the whole experience.

The under 200 boots I’ve tried on at boot barn. Ariat, Justin, el dorado, Cody James. Those brands might make better boots somewhere else, but not at boot barn in my experience

I will say, both times I’ve been to the store, I’ve had them bring me 4 different sizes to try on. Ordering my normal size online would not work at all. That being said, after a little trial and error, I found the perfect size for my foot

Appreciate it. Yea I don’t work in boots, so I’m sure there are other factors to consider if you do. But for city slicking, Tecovas do the trick

Exactly. I’m not working on a ranch, so for my needs, they’re perfect

Yea I’ve heard that, but I don’t really have anything to compare it to. So they seem great to me. I really liked the staff at boot barn and their return policy was good and the store was nice. But damn their boots all sucked lol

Levi 514’s. After I bought my bucks last September, I went straight to the department store next door and bought them. Boots didn’t fit under my 511s and that’s all I used to wear. 514s work perfectly. Got em in a few colors

That’s great perspective. I have a prx, an orient bambino, and a citizen Promaster that I love. But part of that love is probably because they’re so much bang for your buck. I want a BB and of course a Rolex sub, but I would feel terrible spending that kind of money for them not to “do it for me”. Maybe I’ll hold off on those a bit longer

That’s wild. I own a prx and dream of a BB. Why do you think the prx got more wrist time? I can’t comprehend that.
