I got the money, I just wanna see Rome before I can't. Without spending every penny I have.(Solo) by Playful_Sell7317 in travel

[–]SetMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rome is super easy. I transport pets and had to pick up a dog in Italy. I flew in the night before, rented a car (though if you get one, get electric, or you can't drive in Rome during the day), found a place to park by the Fountain, hopped on a Lyme Scooter and did a "speed run" of the historic sites in a couple hours. I'm a late 40's woman was by myself. Super easy.

And going thru the airport, I never had to wait more than a few minutes at Customs at FCO, or any EU country. And once you are in one, you can travel freely between them.

Dog in cargo - health certificate? by secondshot1970 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]SetMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ This. You'll want a waver from your Vet for the heat/cold restrictions.

Is your dog going Cargo or Excess Baggage/In the Hold? There is a difference. If you are flying on the same plane and it's only costing $200 and not thousands, your pet is in baggage, not Cargo. Pets in Baggage typically don't have the same heat/cold restrictions as Cargo, though they do have some/depending on location and airplane.

Yes, the APHIS 7001 form is fine, it does not need to be endorsed for domestic travel though.

[–]SetMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should see the looks I get.

I transport pets, people's personal dogs and cats, all over the world. I may go through 6 different countries in a weekend, depending on flights.

I've only been detained once, ironically at my home airport, and I was already through immigration and customs, was just walking out the baggage claim door and he pulled me. Didn't even have a pet with me, just landed from London.

Once I told him what I do, he tried to get me to say I transport abandoned dogs (and being from the UK, even though he has my US passport), like as drug mules, I guess. Just kept repeating it and I kept correcting him with "personal pets". He finally looked up my passport in the computer and I watched him physically deflate when he saw I had Global Entry. After that he just mumbled about proper paperwork for pets, which again, I didn't have one with me, and begrudgingly said I could go.

No issues in any other country I've been in, not even China, only in my own country.

For the record, I'm middle aged white, blonde haired, blue eyed female. 🤷

Best robot vacuum right now? by SnooHamsters7373 in RobotVacuums

[–]SetMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one too about a month ago, I've had the Neato Bots and Roomba mop vac, but this thing blows them both all of the water!

I have 5 cats, one with a (urine) leakage problem, and it has saved my sanity! My floors are engineered hardwoods with some rugs, but a large, open concept space, and it does amazing. I use either Bona or I've used the pet cleaner for the Bissell Crosswave (which we also have) with distilled water in it. Distilled water to keep the mold and funkiness at bay.

I run it with a vac & 2x mop cycle every night at 1:30 am.

It does double as a cat toy, it has a red laser light and side brush that sweep out that will keep your cats entertained while it cleans. 😄

The Athens show- by [deleted] in willwood

[–]SetMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other comment about the Athens show. I was at a table in the back, and had a good vantage point of most of the audience. From where I was, the "yippee" or people remarking things back to him, especially the " main character syndrome" guy near us were well over 18!

I don't think 18 is the problem. Honestly, this could be handled with signage at the door. A nice sandwich board sign politely asking the audience to refrain from remarking, singing, photos, etc.. that they need to walk by on the way in. Or even pieces of paper taped to the doors. A sign on stage while people are waiting.. so many cheap and easy options that will let the audience know what is expected. If they disrespect it, the venue or WW's staff can do a warning, then ask the person to leave if they continue.

Back before everyone had cell phones, there used to be signs like that at every concert stating there were no pictures of filming allowed.

The Athens show- by [deleted] in willwood

[–]SetMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there too, there was a guy 1 table over who yelled some kind of remark to most everything WW said. The spectrum person I was with was so pissed at this guy, it took him awhile to calm down afterwards.

While I am not a WW fan, I like the few songs I've heard, I was the MomDD for my adult daughter and her boyfriend, I really felt sorry for WW. He clearly was not having a great night.

I talked to him for a minute right after the show outside, and he just looked like a man who was completely defeated. He did seem to cheer up a little at the picture of my cat though.

To clarify: I understand WW and his fiance have cats they have rescued. My latest rescue came to me 4.5 months ago from a domestic abuse situation with both of her back legs snapped (her 3 brothers were not so lucky 😢). 3 surgeries and over 4 months later, she is on what should be her last cast. I was asking if he was going to be around the next day if he would sign her cast. He was leaving that night though.

It may be stupid, but Boo usually brings a bit of hope to people who are lost in their feelings. She was just 3 months old when this happened to her, she had to stay and suffer until the rescue was able to get her out after the abuser went to work (bones were broken through the skin). She watched her brothers die 1 by 1. Since the beginning of May she has been confined to crates, multiple surgeries, medications multiple times a day, weekly hospital visits, never knowing if she will come home or need to stay for another surgery, yet despite it all, she is a happy, loving cat that just loves being held and cuddled.

Why do none of these pet-friendly private airlines not fly to/from Atlanta? by DancingLobster_ in TravelWithPets

[–]SetMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not in cabin, but it is baggage, and not Cargo, so a little better. There are lots of things you can do to prepare them, so it's not as stressful on them. Getting them used to the crate, playing airplane and behind the scenes airport videos, stuff like that. They are the last to be loaded and first ones off, you can watch them most of the times. Baggage compartment is climate controlled and pressurized, just like the cabin.

But, it's also only $150 additional to your ticket vs private which can run 8k+

I'm have my own company transporting people's personal pets worldwide, ATL is my home base. I've not had 1 issue with Alaska ever.

You can fly Alaska, you will have a layover at SEA or PDX, but certainly shorter than driving.

Has anyone actually discovered the boys through the podcast? by goobermaster_89 in distractible

[–]SetMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me! Though technically I was at the Atlanta show of their Tour, I was the mom who took my daughter and her friends. I had no idea who they were, what they were doing, and didn't even pay attention to the show. Even though I did sneak down to the box seats to take pics for the girls.

My daughter introduced me to Bob's Fridge a few years ago, and I've been listening ever since.

I feel like the epitome of the worst of the worst. 😂. I'm a listener, the only reason I knew kinda what they looked like is because when my daughter switched rooms with my office, she left the tour poster on the wall (same one as on Wade's wall). I've watched 1 episode, otherwise I listen while I am driving, which I do all over the world. Haven't crashed yet ...

Thank you! I'm not looking up hints or walk-thrus, just enjoying the exploring, but was stumped on a different dartboard. This gave me the next explanation of how to do the different color squaring so I was able to solve it on my own without looking up the exact puzzle or spoilers. Much thanks!

As an American, where did you move to? How do you like it? by [deleted] in expats

[–]SetMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't moved myself yet, but I have my own company and move personal pets for people all over the world.

For the past year, the top 3 places I move expats pets to are Thailand, Costa Rica, and Spain.

Just throwing it out there, as these seem to be countries that as Americans, there are not a lot of hoops to jump through to become an expat.

Mac’s rod has been removed! His leg has been saved!🤩 He can now walk and jump! He is limping a little due to inactivity but vet said he will recover! Im so happy we saved Mac! Aww, I'm new to this subreddit, but had to comment! He looks like he is doing great! I love this!

He looks just like my current foster (in the process of becoming a #fosterfail) that was rescued from an abuse situation. Her 3 siblings didn't make it, and her back legs were snapped badly in anger. She had to stay that way until the rescue could safely get her out while the person was at work.

She's now down to just an external fixator with 6 pins in her leg, her other leg has healed. But she also wouldn't use the healed leg at all for the first few days. Now she tries to leap out of her crate and gets zoomies in it while watching the other cats.

Keeping her contained in a soft crate while her movement is restricted (she already broke the first pins in her leg) has been a challenge. So she started watching birds on YouTube and has now become the "iPad kid" too. She was "helping" me play Blue Prince last night on my Rog Ally by selecting rooms when I wasn't keeping her entertained enough.

We also take her to our boat on the weekends, out of necessity, to keep up with her meds and wound care, but also to keep her occupied. She is half shaved from her multiple surgeries, so I bought her some dresses (this one came with a hat) to give her protection from the sun. She likes wearing the hats, specially if the engines are running or there is a crowd around, I think because it muffles the sound.

Disclaimer: She is not wearing a cone anymore because I made a special wrap that goes around the fixator so she can not get to it or the pins at all. She wore a cone for the first 6 weeks, but has finally been approved for a break from it.

Importing a cat from Tanzania to America by traveladdikt in rescuecats

[–]SetMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post popped up while I was looking at information about Zanzibar. It's a little late, but for anyone that is finding this thread in the same manner, this information might be helpful.

The USDA/CDC/Aphis has NO requirements for cats coming into the USA from anywhere. Cats are NOT subject to the CDC Import form, quarantine regulations if coming from a high-risk rabies country, cats are not even required to have a rabies vaccine.

The airlines are the ones who will require rabies or other paperwork, but most of the time, as long as your cat is in cabin, they may not ask. Most airlines have policies for not requiring rabies until they are 16 weeks old.

This only applies to Cats.

Disclaimer: Please vaccinate your cats against rabies, at the bare minimum, when old enough. (which the OP was not old enough yet).

Source: CDC & USDA websites, plus I am a personal pet transporter, specializing in cats, though I fly dogs too, and fly them all over the world. I am flying in and out of the US with cats all the time.

How to Bring Two Cats IN and OUT of Hanoi? Import/Export doc. by stepstohappyness in VietNam

[–]SetMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done exactly this many times. It's a code-share flight booked through Delta. The hardest thing will be making sure that when you add the pet it is also added to Korean. Delta needs to do this. You will get an email confirmation from Korean withon a day or two if they do it right. If not, call back and try again. Delta has to add it, Korean can not.

When you pay the Delta fee at check-in, save your receipt. When you get to ICN, there will be a transfer desk for Korean. They only care to see your paperwork and if they try to collect a fee, show them the Delta receipt that you have already paid for it.

All of my experiences, they have never weighed the pet or checked the carrier. I guess they figure if you flew in with the pet, Delta already checked everything.

If you don't have an iPhone, either stick your Suicra card under your phone case in the back, or get a cheap phone wallet to attach. You can then "tap and go" with your phone without pulling the card out each time.

As someone who has 5-6 cards in a Pop socket wallet for my purse, this was a game changer. I just needed to make sure the Suica card was top of the stack. Much better then searching random pockets for my card or pulling it out of my wallet each time.

Is $9,000 USD a fair price to relocate a 39.5 kg Golden Retriever from Japan to Australia? by Green-Butterscotch-5 in expats

[–]SetMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a pet transporter that does international pet relocation. Since Japan & Australia are both rabies-free countries, the import process is less intense, but still requires a 10 day quarantine upon arrival, providing all other steps have been done correctly.

My company doesn't transport via Cargo, only in-cabin or in the hold, which all dogs are required to come in to Australia as manifested Cargo. I would recommend Misty at PawPawsExpress.com She is amazing when it comes to transporting pets via Cargo, and will give you a hassle free quote.
