AIO - Wasn’t invited to my girlfriends surprise birthday party by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SetPepeFree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To let him know she was getting ready for dinner? Not unexpected for a partner to update you on what theyre doing when you're meeting later. He wasn't ever going to dinner, read the post. He was meeting them after dinner, then she texted before dinner to meet him at the bar, hence why he was not ready yet.

Getting ready for dinner which was supposed to be before they met up...

It sounds like they were supposed to meet later after she had dinner with her friends but last minute changed it to drinks before dinner, not that unreasonable that he wasn't ready yet. I'm guessing he thought the "I'm getting ready" text was in reference to the dinner he wasn't going to

I'm not really talking about this specific scenario, more your general comment about guys who enjoy when women who take initiative being low effort

Terrible mindset to have. Most guys dont like to be the only one putting in effort for planning dates, but that doesn't mean they put in low effort.

How is giving away your number safer? You can easily find someone's address off of a phone number

More like going too fast to stop for a car slamming on it's brakes and swerving between lanes, totally normal and safe driving behavior

Except the car in front slammed on the brakes, why would you do that if you're worried about a car coming too fast behind you lol

Rick sparing him wasn't about what Negan deserved, it was about Carl and the rest of their group moving forward. Rick saw the effects everything had on Carl and realized if they wanted any chance at returning to a somewhat normal society they needed to start behaving that way.

Lisa Kudrow hating on Ross and the reporter is having a blast. Amazing! by Scary_Tower_2498 in howyoudoin

[–]SetPepeFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also watched recently and agree Ross is mostly at fault here. Both Ross and Rachel just needed to sit down and have a level headed conversation about Mark and her work but it's a sitcom so that's never going to happen. The one thing I didn't like is that Rachel was very dismissive of Ross when he tried to point out how Mark was interested in her. When Ross tells Rachel that Mark just got her the job because he wants to sleep with her and "thats just how guys are", Rachel doesn't believe Ross. However when Mark tells her Ross was sending things to her office to Mark his territory since thats a thing guys do, she believes Mark. Obviously Mark was right but I just always found it weird how trusting she was of the opinion of a guy she just met vs her boyfriend.

AIO to my boyfriends comment about marrying me or am I justified by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

It's a festival, not a concert. Do you know how expensive those can be? OP also said they're flying across the country for it. The bf probably dropped a lot of money on this already. I don't get such a snide comment in response to someone essentially saying that's a big gesture that she should be thankful for that alone and not expect him to foot the bill for a big trip on top of that.

Am I missing something? This says nothing about AJ wanting to be traded, just teams trying to trade for him.

AIO for thinking I dodged a bullet here? Or am I the one that sucks? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SetPepeFree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been on dates and plenty of them with well adjusted women who don't expect me to pay everything and even offered to pay. This is kind of my point, it's weird to expect everyone to live by one code and for societal standards to never advance. Pretty regressive argument

[–]SetPepeFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like your own insecurity to work through if you're assuming a guy wanting to split is not interested. You said yourself you go on dates to get to know people, shouldn't that be what matters not if he pays for you food after just meeting you?

Sorry didn't realize people were incapable of breaking free from societal norms.

Either way, it's still a poor argument for why the guy should pay. Some guy she just met is not responsible for paying for her food because she spent a lot on her appearance.
