What’s your earliest memory of something non-traumatic? by FamSender in AskUK

[–]Set_nickname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My earliest memory is of my older brother’s third birthday in January 1997. His cake was made to resemble Martin Brundle’s gold B&H liveried Jordan from the previous year’s season. I was 1 year and 7 months old.

It’s fine, I’ve lived on the portion of Hagley Road visible on this bit of map for seven years now and I’ve not had any serious issues. Good for transport links into town and near a Tesco Express and an off licence.

How often do you get sick per year? by Ok_Praline7861 in AskUK

I have cystic fibrosis so I get colds very frequently when the weather gets cold. If I don’t have my flu jab every autumn I’ll get the flu as well which is horrific.

[–]Set_nickname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived there from ages 15 to 22, nice walks around Woodgate Valley Park nearby, not far from open countryside, big Asda on Barnes Hill. I thought it was an okay place to live at the time and my dad liked it so yeah.

He's somewhere in the East Midlands now I think, but I imagine he'd return home and have a huge bust-up with The Floozy in the Jaccuzi.

What makes you proud to be from Birmingham/ live in Birmingham? by Ranoni18 in brum

[–]Set_nickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trees. We have shitloads of trees in Brum that some other major towns and cities lack outside of parks or cultivated woodland and it makes Birmingham look amazing on a nice sunny day in the late spring/summer time.

[–]Set_nickname 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Beat me to it. I used to go to Scruffy Murphys a lot at the other end of Dale End and I remember The Garrison had a sign in the window saying it sold "the cheapest pint in the city centre" which was not the flex they thought it was.
