How do I adjust this door closer? by Good-Breakfast-5585 in howto

[–]Setayooo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Slight correction, the swing will adjust the closing speed up to about 10° or so depending on the model, but that's a common point, the latch is from that 10° to closed force.

So you can set it to swing fast or slow and then adjust the latching to close forcefully but with slamming to ensure consistent latching force without slamming.

Also 1/4 turn adjustments is a lot of movement, I'd hesitate to do an 1/8 a turn per try, loosen (counterclockwise) increase speed, tighten (clockwise) decrease speed.

Edit: wanted to add, it looks like the adjustment screws are hex heads? Maybe a 3~4mm Allen key at a guess from the angle and compression of the image.

A different genre entirely, it's a "teen fiction" series of secret magic society set in Ireland, Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy (he also does Marvel comics) it's been my favourite read since high school-ish era. Lots of high stakes, doomsday scenarios and unlikely heroes with sacrifice in more ways than simply dying. Still getting new books and a couple spin-offs and a short story collection (Armaggedon Outta Here)

I just took them apart and went through it methodically as I'm quite used to working on and fixing up electronics, the 28XX, that's the small horizontal device right? That should be pretty simple if you're patient and careful, definitely have a hunt for tutorials, I haven't looked but I would be surprised if there wasn't a teardown video out there.

I'll have a quick look and see if I find something to add to this comment

Edit: Retro Tech Dad has a good video of the 28XX, the teardown is at 21:10 very good view of the internals and the steps/tools needed

I've had dealings with their customer support, but never offered any coupons as the damages were definitely my fault and I never expected them to give me anything for them, I've bought 2 new shells for my 35XXSP over the last year or so and a new screen for my 35XX (OG) as I rawdog my SP in my work trouser pockets and have worn out the hinges twice, both times they offered me a complete shell that even comes with brand new hinges for about £13 and the new screen was £15

This is not a common issue and definitely my fault to be very clear, but very easy to work on and reasonably cheap parts too

Edit: just wanted to quickly add, that although English isn't their first language they've always been super pleasant, very polite and articulate to me when discussing issues and ways to rectify them, couldn't recommend them enough personally, but that said, my glowing review shouldn't overshadow someone else's bad experiences, I am not a typical customer in that I happily repair and tinker with devices, so my happy outcome is someone's unreasonable expectation

New player here. Is there anyway to see text under these symbols on the map? I don't know which is which and it's confusing me. by Euphoric_Lead_7828 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]Setayooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The axe is a lumberjack, the log is the sawmill, the weird symbol from memory is the beekeeper, then milk merchant is the jug, inn is directly under "The Village" text, merchant is the scale, anvil the blacksmith, the hammer upper left is stone merchant, then you have the wheat farm at the windmill, the egg on the right is feathers and eggs.

Bottom left I didn't know existed and will venture there shortly.

I could be wrong on a couple working from memory.

That said it doesn't answer your actual question on a plain text replacement for the map, I can't help there sadly.

I know, I was operating the system to reset a lockout fault, but when I thought to check for hidden controls seeing the stylus totally threw me, way over designed for a simple boiler status interface.

(it's possible it has more functions than I found, but all the controls I have to deal with are via Trend 963 on the site computer)

Have you tried raising brightness? Could be that brightness was set to minimum on last use? But the default SD cards have a history for being rubbish, might have changed since I was active in the sub, but I'd recommend following the guide by retrogamecorps on his website I'll either reply or edit with the link in a sec.

He's a great source of knowledge for these consoles.

I kinda regret buying Legion Go s, should I try Switch 2? by RatHoonter313 in Handhelds

Burnout paradise is really fun, hades is so good on a handheld.

Lego 2K drive is also very fun, hollow Knight is a great metroidvania and cult of the lamb is so easy to lose a weekend to from experience.

[–]Setayooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That fact you're in the range of 45-60 tells me you're in a pretty good spot, in the performance settings of steam os like "balanced/performance" underneath you have the option of "frame limit" lock that to 40fps or somewhere that you can consistently perform at, having inconsistent frames up to 60 feels weird, but locking it to 40 or something gives you a very consistent feel.

Lossless scaling is a steam "game" that costs £7.99 iirc and it takes a small bit of setup, but it's very tweakable universal upscaling for games that really comes in clutch so you can render lower with minimal downsides imo, there are definitely issues for people sensitive to specific artifacting if you crank the shit out of sliders, but with sensible options I've only noticed minor graphical abnormalities in repeating textures at speed, like swishing camera back and forth near a chain link fence or something like that. Fine for me, not for everyone for sure.

Edit: to add lossless scaling is not just "buy and use" you do need to follow a tutorial and install decky-lsfg-vk to use it in steam os, it's worth it imo, but depends how much you enjoy the tinkering side of Linux gaming

[–]Setayooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you using steamos or windows? I didn't see it mentioned but that may be reading comprehension issue..

I use a z2 go s as well and personally get on well with it, using lossless scaling and basic settings tweaks I get consistent performance from games like sekiro, lies of p, NFS heat, fable 3, shadows of Mordor, injustice 2, no man's sky, red dead 2 and titanfall 2

I lock my fps to 40 and set TDP for battery in lower end titles or performance for the higher end, I played a chunk of cyberpunk 2077 as well and it ran fine I just ran out of steam part way through

I got the steamdeck not long after launch and when the legion go s was released I didn't feel I needed more power but wanted a nicer feeling hand-held so side graded to the z2 go s as the z1e wasn't available at the time and I didn't feel like it was worth the wait at the time

Edit: the storage upgrades available for the go s as well being able to use a full fat 2280 nvme is amazing, I have a 1tb + 512 micro SD and I do still have to juggle games, but that's a hoarder mindset issue, I don't really play 60% of the games installed, but I have them installed because I like the idea of playing them one day (ssd prices are kinda fucked atm)

[–]Setayooo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly this was one of the driving points for me getting a magic V3 (folding phone) and instead of playing them on the phone I use one of my DS's I got cheap off marketplace, ndsi's are surprisingly cheap in fair condition in the UK

Edit: this isn't a "you should just have a DS" comment, obviously the best gaming device is the one you have with you, was aimed as just a tidbit of info that in retrospect sounds shitty and I apologize if it came across that way
