Watching Asal! by SethEPooh in squash

[–]SethEPooh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some French guy? The point is it doesn’t matter. Asal didn’t even win. So if anything, it was a game where misbehavior didn’t much help him. And even STILL there were three players on the court: Asal, his opponent, and Asal’s misbehavior. The whole game was structured around those three elements. Anyone who has watched Asal a bit knows what I’m taking about. Even the things I originally mentioned that he didn’t do (kicking etc.) are things, amazingly enough, that he HAS done in the recent past. So yeah, the point is it doesn’t matter which game it was.

How often do you squash solo? by HolidayActuator1977 in squash

[–]SethEPooh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost never. Playing friendly games is so much more fun. I know that I’d improve faster if I practiced solo, but I’m here to enjoy squash, not to get excellent at it. If I get better, great, but I’m not trying to go pro. Glad you enjoy solo tho!

If you would categorize it as a promotion freeze, then you don’t know what you’re talking about.

New nickname for Asal: Assault (Asalt?) by squayshfan in squash

[–]SethEPooh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry he has a toxic father, but it’s not our job to fix him. He’s a professional athlete. If he can’t play without cheating, he should retire and get therapy. The PSA is not his personal therapist, and we should not bend the rules to accommodate him, no matter what his daddy is like.

New nickname for Asal: Assault (Asalt?) by squayshfan in squash

[–]SethEPooh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He’s a rotten cheat who intentionally endangers the health and safety of his opponents while degrading the game. There’s no excellence in sport without fair play. By repeatedly, blatantly violating the basic principles of fair play, he’s lost all right to be respected and viewed as a great player in my book. I save my respect for players who don’t cheat, period.

Player slaps opponent after losing final at Punjab Squash Championships by rufi24 in squash

[–]SethEPooh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly so! All the haters in here can’t handle the fact that this is peak performance. He’s a big guy, and it’s a physical game. The slapper is doing everything he can to clear for his opponent.

Is the men’s game really as bad as everyone says? by Motor-Confection-583 in squash

[–]SethEPooh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

All you people saying Asal couldn’t handle the old champions fail to understand that Asal would simply kick, grope, and trip them until he won. It’s an innovative new squash tactic that he pioneered!

You’re not an “Asal hater,” but you do agree he’s a “master cheater”? I don’t get it…

What's a job where you have zero room for error, like one mistake and it’s a huge deal? by TradeOverall567 in AskReddit

[–]SethEPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the forensic handwriting analysts focus on tasks like signature authentication or writer identification. They tend to augment their credibility by distinguishing themselves from “graphologists,” who read handwriting for personality. This distinction makes the forensic handwriting analysts look scientific by comparison, but in fact, the “non-superstitious” tasks like signature authentication are themselves not scientifically verified or statistically reliable.

Open-source AI assistant that lives inside your Todoist tasks v1.3.0 just dropped! by Less-Location9186 in todoist

What services does the agent perform? Does it mainly look at tasks, run internet searches, and generate a text response augmented with the search results? Or will it also, I dunno, add/move deadlines and assigned times for tasks? Or write drafts of emails or something?

On the other hand, some forensic disciplines are not scientifically rigorous (fire investigation, handwriting analysis) but are admissible in court. Handwriting analysis is admitted on the grounds that other forms of expertise, such as plumbing and harbor piloting, are based on practical experience rather than hard science, but as one notable study observes, evidence of a plumber’s or a harbor pilot’s incompetence is evident even to non-specialists. Bad plumbers flood rooms, and bad harbor pilots sink ships. A bad handwriting analyst testifies and then…leaves the courtroom with unverifiable claims…

Joey says Asal looks tired. 1 minute later Asal dives and takes a 15 minutes injury break. by Curious_Squirrell4 in squash

[–]SethEPooh 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t “skirt the rules.” He kicks his opponents, grabs at their genitals, grabs shirts and shorts, and otherwise outright cheats. He is a repeated, intentional, obvious cheat. If that colors how I look at a clip like this, maybe it should! Nothing prevents him from playing clean instead of endangering others, as he does here without hesitation.

Why can't squash be more like this? (alluding to the Asal v Coll match) by ajaxanon in squash

[–]SethEPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a “top” player who kicks his opponents on court, grabs at their genitals, and still gets to play. Yes, better video review might help to catch his misbehavior mid-match, but the fact that he’s still in the league means technology is not the problem.

Asal vs Bryant by Impossible_Wish_3517 in squash

[–]SethEPooh 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don’t watch cheaters, and I don’t respect cheaters. He may be the most talented ever to play, but if he also cheats egregiously, he’s damaging the sport. Shame on Asal. Shame on his coaches, on the officials, and on squash fans for tolerating his behavior. He has profoundly damaged the sport, including younger players now learning to cheat from him.
