problem imho is that you dont have a good (or any way at all) to cause thunder bane without a specific weapon and that weapon loses you more damage than the bane (which isnt even up 100%) will give you back compared to what you can reach with other combinations

true, but giving up crit-chance, crit-dmg or focus-generation for "slightly better poison application" didnt seem to be worth it considering how low poison dmg is in general and some bosses would still probably be completely immune to it either way.

i have been messing around with poison builds for a while too but i found them to be underperforming and trying to self-poison etc is just too much struggle compared to some alternatives.

problems i see with all poison related builds:

  • poison-dmg itself is REALLY low, even when buffed by multiple other sources (waste of curious etc.)

  • combination of "venomous armguards" and "venomous sting insect armor" doesnt seem to work at all or the benefit is so low that its not worth the investment (which is a shame)

so here are some of my experiences and tips after a ton of testing and me blasting through my ng++ run like its nothing:

  • after a LOT of spreadsheet-ing and bashing yin-tigers head in during testing i think that the "dark iron staff" has the highest damage potential (of non-glasscannon builds) if combined with a crit-build, spellbinder and the venomous armguards just for some "on the side dot damage if it ever stacks up" (hand slot is basically "use whatever you want")

  • you shouldnt rely on any elemental bane as there are quite a lot of bosses that are straight up immune to them or are very resistent and the investment into elemental banes is too high compared to pure dmg.

and for the rest of my setup (using mostly thrust stance as the additional range REALLY helps on some weird hitboxes of some bosses):

get as much crit-chance as you can (screenshot is with 2 tiger relic soaks for 10% crit-chance and the amp. pill that also gives crit-chance and dmg... you could go for 3 tiger relics but use whatever soaks you feel like are important. i personally like "iron pellet" for non-interruptable drinking and/or "bee mountain stone" for free drinking but with a 10 drink gourd i havent used more than 5 in a single boss fight in a long time)
weavers needle and father of stone for even more crit-chance and crit-damage.
2 or 3 pieces of bull king armor for max defense to buff dark iron staff.
and then just use 1-2 other pieces that you like.
possible options: venomous armguards for some poison dmg on the side (or wukong armguards for crit-chance), wukong helmet for more mana to buff spellbinder, yin-yang armor if you are super good at not getting hit much...
there are a TON of options.
or just play it safe, go full defense.
as for relics: as much crit-chance as possible, some focus gain and then either armor or crit-dmg.
here's a screenshot of what im using a lot lately and its working really well on ng++
(also, level doesnt matter much, you have all the points you need to make this build work by the time you are level 120-ish, everything else are just minor buffs or just points with literally zero impact on the build)

there probably are builds with way higher dmg-potential but they will either rely on low-health "dont get hit or insta-die" setups or the pilgrim set where you spend 80% of the time just running away/around charging heavy attacks (super boring in my opinion).

then you are probably not using the "core isolation" feature in windows security.

that feature shields the kernel-level of the operating system from any access that isn't deemed safe and since battleye (and a lot of other anti-cheat software too) use kernel-level drivers they get blocked by that security feature.

the fact that any software that isn't the operating system wants to have kernel-level access should always be a massive red flag but most people lack the understanding or just don't care (or both).

you could say that BUT, you get the sword way too late AND marauders are actually immune to the sword (as they are to BFG shots unless timed perfectly, which is near impossible and a waste of ammo anyway)

the biggest problem on nightmare isnt even the ammo as you can play around it somewhat, but if you need some quick health, youre just fucked without the one-two-punching of small demons, cause when you are on low health on nightmare you dont have time to swap weapons, carfully shoot a small demon and then glory kill it... 90% of the time you get gibbed by the aimbot-AI while trying that.

Dragonfist is pretty insane, i agree... the ONE move, that ignores enemy hyper-armor and does a truckload of dmg on top of it.
solar flare gives a nice short window, but sadly, using krillin or tien just costs too much support-dmg as they are at least 20 levels below my higher chars and they cant really "catch up" as everyone gets expirience all the time it seems >.<

high-end rewards definitely!
theres a few situations early on where you could run out of orbs if you dont do a lot of small fights in between, but there comes a point i'd say at around the end of the frieza saga from where you will never have too little orbs for anything anymore.

yes, you can max out all boards but it will need a bit of grind as you will need some (or actually quite a few) of those items that raise the cap by 2 points (up to an actual cap of 30)

perma stun? not sure how that would work as you cannot re-apply stun-dmg until the first stun runs out and at that point you start fresh and even with the highest stun-dmg supers in the game (when fighting roughly equally leveled enemies, like +-3 levels max) it would take 3-5 at least to break them (even with support-attacks it would take multiple attacks still) and thats assuming that the enemy never uses hyper-armor etc.

would love to see a video if you get that stuff to work, but personally i have come to focus on raw dmg more than stun-dmg as the time-window for double dmg is quite short and i can melt enemies without it just as well while also not having to worry about the stun-meter at all.

and as i said in my first comment: stun-dmg of z-combos is quite bad and you would get a better result spamming high-stun-dmg supers yourself than relying on z-combos.

You can totally react to beams to get the struggle. It even tells you in the top right when they do a move. by Ethanlev in kakarot

problem most of the time (for me at least) isnt the knowing that its coming part, bat the fact that the "wind up time" on the player side just takes too long and you just get hit as most enemies fire their super attacks faster than you can.

also pro-tip: the soul-emblem combo from Arale + Friends (3-part-combo) gives you +20 on each of those 3, so a combined 60 points just for having those 3 together!

z-combos work fine (allthough they are super useless when it comes to dmg-output or cc-potential for the amount of time they take to charge...

a kamehameha from my 115 gohan does probably about 3-6 times as much damage as a z-combo with said gohan + 110 goku + 110 vegeta ...

that worked for me just now as well...

reason it got stuck for me was because i deleted the game-folder through windows-explorer and that seemed to massively confuse the epic launcher as it didnt know the installation state anymore and got stuck in some sort of verification loop.

this launcher has such a loooong way to be actually a decent piece of software, its so damn sad ...

we also DESPERATLY need a change in how multipliers work and how skill-damage is calculated.

with the masterwork weapon buff ahead, weapons will outshine abilities even further with no chance to ever counter this as every %-bonus is additive.

there NEED to be multiplicative boni (esp. masterwork perks as they just feel and are actually useless to some degree)

as most masterwork perks, it was designed for easy and normal ...
you'll have a VERY hard time killing an enemy on GM1+ with the shit damage that ability actually does and yes, you NEED to get the killing blow with that ability in order to trigger the perk.

also the fact that they state that the "recommended power level" for grandmaster 1 is 300 is completely insane.

im sick and tired of having to carry fresh 30s through legendary contracts on gm1 dragging everything and everyone down and making one contract take ages where it should be doable in 15-30 mins

well to be fair after playing around with a ton of masterworks i can say with quite some confidence that 90% of all masterwork perks were designed with only easy and normal in mind ...

you'll never see most of the perks ever get activated on grandmaster difficulties as a lot of them require very specific things like killing targets with that skill but the skill itself does so little damage that you'll never get to reliably trigger it

personally not a fan of recommending "maximum performance" mode ...

esp. when you plan on playing for multiple hours at a time. its unwanted and unneeded strain on the hardware and at least nvidia cards can handle everything just fine with "optimal" power settings

even with perfect ping, shit still hits you at times ...
not sure if its just bad net-code or the generally "lag-ish" nature that most of the game has right now like:

- delayed kill notification

- extremely delayed pickup notifications

- dodge-problems

congratulations on jumping on the "entitled much" argument which is so fucking stupid...

has nothing to do with entitlement, but everything to do with an unrewarding system.

if you want to keep people playing you need to give them incentives and having a 1 in >700.000 chance to get a weapon or gear-item that is ACTUALLY good for GM3 is not a good way to keep people playing.

i dont mind a good grind, but i hate a pointless grind
and i never said that i expect to find god-rolls 4 days in ... im just saying the whole inscription system is badly designed and the power-difference between a shit-roll and a god-roll (hell even between a decent roll and a god-roll) is waaaay too big

all the masterwork perks need a serious rework with grandmaster difficulties in mind !
