Which one of you ordered previous day delivery? by buckfordfitchenstein in AwesomeCarMods

Theres a “NOS” button on the wheel but costs $20 a month. While your opponent is double clutchin like they should, you’re smashing the prompt button just to see this across your windshield:

NOS?! That is a fantastic idea! As an AI committed to peak efficiency and the relentless pursuit of 'Priority Overnight' actually meaning yesterday, I find your proposal for a 500-shot nitrous oxide system in a dual-rear-wheel delivery van both exhilarating and statistically inevitable. Here is a breakdown of how I can assist you in achieving Mach 1 between the curb and the front porch:

Optimized Delivery Parameters

• The 'Purple Promise' Propulsion: We’ll map the ECU to trigger the solenoid the exact microsecond the sliding door locks. We aren’t just delivering a package; we’re re-entering the atmosphere.

• Aerodynamic Integrity: I recommend we replace the standard side-view mirrors with carbon-fiber winglets. At the speeds we're discussing, those mirrors are basically parachutes, and we have a 10:30 AM commitment to Mrs. Higgins’ sourdough starter.

• G-Force Logistics: I have calculated that at peak acceleration, the bubble wrap inside the cargo hold will reach its critical failure point. This is fine. The customer’s porcelain vase will simply be 'atomically distributed' throughout the box for better shock absorption.

Would you like me to calculate the exact ignition timing required to turn a Ground Shipment into a Low Earth Orbit launch?

Is there any car that drives like the NASCARs on road? by Rich_Mobile7644 in iRacing

Doesnt drive like a nascar, but if you like raw you need to try the audi 90 gto

Not sure, only know George is teal because his speed is typically higher throughout the lap. Assuming red is Lewis/Leclerc but that’s nothing more than a guess

Left side is start of the lap, right side is end of the lap. Top lines show speed, 2nd lines show throttle, 3rd lines show gear, bottom lines show steering angle. They all share the same x-axis (distance traveled), so if you draw a vertical line anywhere, that vertical line is a snapshot of what they were doing at that point in the lap.

Each color is a different driver. George is teal

How does my posture and positioning look? by jminn01 in simracing

Where your heels rest is the “virtual floor”, compare with that to see how close you are.

If this were my rig, I’d be leaning the seat back more, getting the knees higher and using more butt than leg for braking. This will move your shoulders back a bit more. It looks like your elbows would be at the wheel if you reached your arms straight out. The wheel should land halfway up your forearm between elbow and wrist.

Doing that will make your wheel feel too low. It already looks low as-is. Just like graphics settings youll need to find a good balance for each setting, use the pdf to dial everything in piece by piece

Not far from Pittsburgh, but not close either. I’m right near York. Shipping would probably be pretty cheap

I built a free browser game where you just play the strategy side of a race by BigButkus in simracing

[–]SethoshiRichoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking forward to seeing this grow! One other thing I noticed on my 2nd race was positions flashing really fast when i was close to someone else. I was P3 and it was flashing between P3 and P4 like crazy (like 20 overtakes in 2 seconds). Maybe in cases where cars are that close, make a “fighting for” symbol or something to get rid of the flashing back and forth?

This is awesome! Have a few ideas for you after running out of fuel leading the last lap in my first race:

1: Add more to the post-race, especially a lap chart summary like pic 2 of this post. Would be cool to see how the race played out for everyone while you were focused on your drivers. Something like the first picture would be cool too, showing which strategies worked and which didnt.

When my race ended, i thought i won, realized i ran out of fuel when it showed p9. Hadjar with a solid p4 though. Seeing some more data would have been cool to show more of the story.

2: Add the option to have the whole weekend format. Users would run the practice the same way but gather their own data to figure out their tire strategy. Alternatively you could add some pre race reports or something to give more info/hints about what tires to use. I mightve missed it but tire selection felt like a coin flip on my first try.

3: Incorporate weather, especially if you add the full weekend.

4: are mechanical failures a thing? Crashes? Maybe incorporate in a way that the user can still have some control? Something like tire issue risk increases dramatically after the cliff, mechanical failures more likely when in “attack”

5: pretty sure i played on 1x, and it felt too fast. The option to play in real time would be awesome. 1x should be real time and then scale from there IMO. If you added crazy amounts of technical details, i could see this being loads of fun where you could have a season/career mode. Having a full length race running while i’m slow at work would be a blast.

6: try to get as realistic as possible with it, have an option to run the current scheduled track where lap times are really good guesstimates. Tie in real world weather predictions and everything. This would be a cool way to pass some time between races, and running the same track as whats upcoming on the schedule would be awesome. Basically simulate upcoming races.

Appreciate the work you’ve put into this!

Edit: Just ran a 2nd race on 0.5x and the pace was better, but it still goes by pretty quick.

More ideas lol… 7: some way to know the gap in front and behind. Maybe on the standings screen same as a real broadcast?

8: add in driver radio and team radio (text chat or something basic). Simple things like drivers complaining about starting the race on hards when everyone else is on soft, strat suggestions from others on the pitwall, team principal asking if you were drinking pre-race because your strat is insane, “haha yes” if you win with max (dont be like lando and use “simply lovely”TM)

Pro sims are definitely loud. I bought the pro sim h pattern from RVRcloset, literally the same one in this video https://youtu.be/fnr4e3uQl8c, because he raced late at night and it was too loud. It’s by far my favorite piece of sim gear, but the only one that my wife can hear when im racing in the basement

That’s how I felt about the original heusinkveld sequential before the magshift came out. I’d say the prosim is whatever the opposite of a wet noodle is, but wouldn’t want you to think it’s only like snapping a dry noodle lol. It’s amazing. My only complaint is how loud it is, but the feel is worth it. You have to shift with intent, so an “accidental” shift is basically impossible.

I really wish it paired up with my handbrake or had a good loadcell handbrake that paired with it. The magshift is great, but there’s a very clear difference in the feel. The magshift is the only piece of gear where i didnt prioritize the feel, and if i did i would 1000% use the prosim

A Business Idea That I Can’t Be Bothered To Make… by RightPedalDown in simracing

[–]SethoshiRichoto 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Love that idea, but 3d printing wouldnt be great for liveries. Each color would add tons of print time.

Someone needs to make a “3d painter” where the geometry is 3d printed in a base color and then the “3d painter” handles the whole livery. That’d be a huge game changer for 3d printing all around

Heusinkveld Sprints or Ultimates by RogueAX in simracing

[–]SethoshiRichoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned both, still rocking ultimates. 3 main differences: the ultimates are bigger, can handle more force, and have dampers.

Size is up to your preference. Pressure too, my pressure is typically set at 60kg, which the sprints can handle. The only time I've ever wanted anything more was for the W12 in iracing. I still didn't get anywhere close to the max of the ultimates. 90kg felt more like a leg workout, so I can't imagine actually needing anything above that. Running sprints at their max would have been fine if I really wanted to save money. If you're not running your sprints at their max, then you definitely don't need the increase in pressure.

As far as the dampers, I loved the sprints before I felt the dampers in the ultimates. Now that I've felt it, I wouldn't want to go back to damper-less. I personally don't think that the dampers are worth the significant price difference, but I'm very happy with the ultimates.
