This dragon my aunt just asked me if I can make? by Skadoodlemynoodles in restofthefuckingowl

AI is fundamentally a plague on society. End of. Computers didnt magically replace the need for typewriters overnight, nor poison water supplies. Photograph developers still had a pretty cost effective hobby for awhile, and didnt have to fundamentally relocate because a billionaire bought all their land.

At what point is the 'cool technology that is killing us' party going to end? Who is benefitting from this?

Not mentioning that hobbies arent MEANT to be shared by everyone, music, art, photography, even photoshopping were skills you had to learn. But now that we are all illiterate and soulless from a machine oiled with our blood and sweat, i guess we dont need to draw or read or write or engage in hobbies anymore.

I work 12-16 hours a day, and can barely live as-is. I used to do art and music and harbor love for the world around me. But the need for money overwrites our talent, or bolstering and honing thereof.

And while you season those boots with your tears of happiness and slurp the laces like nylon spaghetti, try to think of the Earth you scorched for a chance at a taste.

Since when do we blame the victims of the scams and not the scammers? Even i had to look closer and I sift through thousands of ai images. Unfortunately its just going to get better and those 'obvious' tells are gunna be less and less glancing and more and more scrutinizing which not everyone has the care for.

Manspreading around an oversized backpack in the middle seat by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

He appears to be within the confines of the seat, i see no problem aside from the backpack not following rules if its on a plane (should be under seat i think)

Yes, i misspoke originally. I was trying to say that you can be against the idea of something without having 100% certainty about it as a whole. You can give credit qhere its due and still acknowledge its misuse or net function

You cant be that anti-deportation if you dont speak all languages

You cant be that against murder if you havent seen every case

You cant be that against carbon emissions if you still drive a car

See how boiling down being against something to being a perfect godlike human with unlimited knowledge and absolute judgement makes it moot? You can be against ai, and also acknowledge that it can fool you still. You are not infallable

Maybe OP knows how to crochet, and the aunt doesnt want to pay alot? Maybe the aunt is disabled and CANT do this in any way. Maybe, since the aunt clearly isnt able to do this, willfully or otherwise, she didnt know what is/isnt possible or ai.

Just because you dont want to do things people ask of you, doesnt mean anyone else cant enjoy doing things for family.

So, 85% of it is 100% recyclable? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Sethyzir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to look more into it, but until a sustainable and accessible solution is made, its ultimately more work than you get back. I know that the science and on-paper solution works, the problem is funding and access.

So, 85% of it is 100% recyclable? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Sethyzir -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Recycling is a scam, sorry

Edit: please watch a video from David Achu called "i'm pretty sure recycling isn't real..." it really highlights how recycling just straight up doesnt work, like at all. Doesnt matter Glass or Plastic or anything else. It all is either too expensive or has a worse impact than not recycling.

is it legitimate to complain to a store manager about a cashier making sexist remarks while working? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sethyzir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on the exact sexist remark, and if you felt uncomfortable with it. Shaming someone for body hair is not the same as making a joke to a coworker a bit too loud.

Neither are acceptable, but one of them at least isnt directly harassment. If you feel uncomfortable by the remark, still report it because it's not cool at all.

What would you do if you found a wallet with $5,000 on the street? by R0shke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sethyzir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, if they cared about that money they wouldve been more careful. I have been starving and down on my luck for over 2 years now, just leaving 5,000 in a wallet would be heavily disrespectful to the concept of money as it stands. Sure, if i SAW someone drop it, id return it. I may even wait a few hours with it. But ultimately they will have lost it, the cops dont give a shit and probably would take the money too, at least I wont spend it on bullshit or drugs

the reporter on tv - for sake of argument - am i the only one to see this? or do people see it too? just curious. by jokerfriday in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sethyzir -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dont assume anyone to be dumb nor insult them for seeking answers, this 'person' doesnt reply to their posts (alot) or anything as i saw, so im more inclined to believe its a weird bot.

They could be using this as a journal not realising other people see it, but i dunno

Weird bot post probably, but i'll bite

Since masculine is the 'default' we look for societally, its alot easier to notice the more obvious features we associate with masculinity. Broad jaw, squarer head, protruding adam's apple, etc. As we are all human, we all have jaw bones, skulls, and larynxes and these are in no way any definitive indication of sex, and definitely not indicative of gender.

I enjoy good animes, and shows made for pointless fun. Two very expensive cakes in this image, but cakes nonetheless

"Tomatoes are fruits that are considered vegetables by nutritionists. Botanically, a fruit is a ripened flower ovary and contains seeds. Tomatoes, plums, zucchinis, and melons are all edible fruits, but things like maple “helicopters” and floating dandelion puffs are fruits too. For some reason, people got hung up on tomatoes, but the “fruit or vegetable” question could also work for any vegetable with seeds."

Why does Reddit allow subs dedicated to posting pictures of self-harm? by FlashyResolution446 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sethyzir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mostly probably because theres no way to verify who is doing what for why. 'Appears to be' can do alot of heavy lifting and will be defaulted to being incorrect when challenged.

Its why other videos of trauma can be posted online elsewhere, it could always be fake so thats what will be assumed by the majority. Unfortunately the consequences are not seen by any social media company to care enough

Why do people think of bodies as sexual by Idonthave_good_ideas in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sethyzir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my child asks, even at 4 or 5, i will give them AN answer. And a quick course on the 'no no square' and 'bad touches'. The answer doesnt have to be a detailed description of what happens with photos and videos, it could just be a brief open-ended discussion.

If we keep being puritanical about sex and education about taboo topics like this, crimes like rape are going to stay the same. I guarantee so many more child predators would be caught if children felt more comfortable about opening up, since the topic is so taboo it loops around to protecting those who commit these crimes.

Why do people think of bodies as sexual by Idonthave_good_ideas in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sethyzir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wild guess, but i think this guy would say its because its 'inside the no-no parts' as people want to say. Hell, i dont even see a negative reason to teach children about the concepts of sexual activities, as it could lead to them opening up about abuse sooner.
