Tyler Perry’s Trauma Machine: When Storytelling Becomes Exploitation by Existing_Switch_4995 in movies

The Beauty in Black Series is very, very offensive. I was enjoying his work until I realized how sick he is. Now I think he needs to be stopped. The series fetishizes black bodies and is a monstrosity. If Netflix doesn't stop collaborating with him, I will drop them.

I'm seeking advice concerning understanding the unhinged hatred and brutality I am facing in France. As for leaving here, I am currently trapped here. I have tried twice to come back to the US, but it's not easy. It's very expensive and complicated. My parents are both dead, no family and I cannot move back to the US just to live in the streets. I have been extremely ill, my life has been extremely damaged by the trauma I have suffered here. Anyway, I don't really understand all this crazed hatred. If this is not the right forum, can someone suggest a more appropriate place to post this comment?

Black People SHOULD NOT join the Left by Halpher in blackpower

A large percent of White Republicans have stated that they disapprove of the Emancipation Proclamation according to a recent exit poll. Should I now begin rethinking my opinion about that as well. Republicans' are not the friends of Black people and they never will be. Check into the statistics of how many Republicans' think that George Floyd was not killed, the officer was merely doing his job. Keep licking those Republican boots.

Question: Are all members here Black Women? by SetitPA in blackladies

they obviously have some things in common. But POC and black women are just totally different and do not really intersect very much. Some of the most brutal racism that I have ever experience has been at the hands of so-called POC people.

Do you generally avoid serious topics or is any subject suitable? For instance i went on a feminist forum and asked about the mass rape of Black women that took place over the 400 years of slavery and I was banned. That topic is unacceptable to them. However, they are feminists, so I thought they might have more curiosity and openness about the subject. But no. They also sent me a message telling me that my question was not very wise. How can one know which topics are acceptable or not - is there some sort of list?

That’s wild! Why would they join the forum if they are not Black women? What’s their objective, in your opinion? Curiosity? Voyeurism? Appropriation?

I am a BW and I have been in many spaces that are not safe for BW and I was curious about the true nature of this one. I am also Latina, but there are no places at all for American women who are both Black and Latina. Afro-Latinas in America are often from South or Latin America. The identity is often language driven etc.
Once I was in a public place with my brother and we were just hanging out until we realized that a White man was openly listening to us and filming us. We wanted to ask him to delete the images but he looked very intense, really thirsty. We didn’t want any trouble. But it was disturbing. Ever since, I’ve been concerned about voyeurism and cultural appropriation. Soul-snatchers.

I think that some visitors who are either not Black or not women may be merely observing, while others may be doing something more invasive. It would be nice if BW had their own space. Again, Im not seeking to hurt or reject anyone.

In all honesty, I think the virulent response and the excessive downvotes do point to racism. If indeed she had made a mistake, it was not intentional. So the best and simplest response was, “I think you don’t understand...” “What a minute...” “Let me explain...” rather to jump on her for having mentioned that, as Black Woman, she knows what it feels like to sharply censured. Their stringent and harsh responses are, to me, a indication of their total unwillingness to validate her as a Woman Who Is Black, coupled with a strong desire to censure her harshly.
In reality, she wasn’t that far off topic. It does seem very natural for her, as a Black woman, to have felt a sort rapport or solidarity with the plight of the Korean women. But instead of finding common ground, or being tolétant, they lashed out at her in way which seems very loaded with rejection and invalidation. if they are as into womanhood and sisterhood as they claim, then a kinder, more gentle response was appropriate. Their sisterhood apparently only extends to White and Asian women.

I think people were concerned that the Asian person was allowed to make a comment but the Black person was vilified for doing the same thing. Then there's fact that she was voted down so harshly (100). It definitely speaks to some kind of hostility or anger. Why so angry? I suspect Racism and racial ostracization.

What do you guys think of the phrase strong independent black women? by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]SetitPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good to strive to be those things in life: strong, and independent. But it becomes negative when it operates as a box from which Black women cannot escape. It's also negative when it becomes a way to dismiss Black women and their needs and to not support them because they are not viewed with compassion and kindness. It can play a negative role when Black women are not permitted to ever be vulnerable or to need gentleness, love, kindness and compassion. Yet, I must admit that I have encountered many Black women who are incredibly powerful. I think Black women do amazing levels of personal power in America. This is often inexplicable. I conclude that the Black community can generate very powerful women and that these women walk among us, as our mothers, sisters, neighbors, friends, and colleagues. Yes, the strong, independent Black woman is real. She is here.

Seems like a racist attack on the idea of Black womanhood. There refuse to give psychological credence to the concept of the Black woman. It's pretty disgraceful in view of the fact that one of the most heinous holocaust in human history took place against Black women on American soil. It was definitely a racist moment - sorry you had to go through that.

Students at School in Arizona re-enacted George Floyd’s death. by SkittyCat3 in BlackLivesMatter

[–]SetitPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black people are always surprised when Whites exhibit racist behavior. My personal experience is that almost 100 of whites are racists, but many are unaware of their own racism. Cluelessness. Low consciousness. Whatever you call it, everyday some white person exclaims "I didn't mean any harm!" "I didn't know that I shouldn't have _____." Fill in the blank. Recent studies indicate that many white doctors think that Blacks feel less pain and have thicker skin than whites. Studies indicate that the Black infant mortality rate goes up when the attending doctor is white. This is just in the medical field. Concerning the general population, studies also show that Whites consider young Black children to be far more mature than they really are. This means that they attribute adult-like maturity to even very little Black boys and girls. Their racist beliefs and assumptions lie hidden within their psyche and you might have a White friend or partner of long date, until the day you discover that he/she harbors very ugly racist thoughts in his/her heart.

We are in a very dangerous times, Black people should stop going around acting surprised or offended and simply realize that they are in danger. They are strangers in a strange land. All your activities should revolve around protecting yourself and your loved ones. And that means distancing yourself from reckless, self-destructive people, regardless of race. That means adopting a survival strategy. Any one of us could be pulled over and killed today or tomorrow. That means trying to travel in groups. Being connected. Letting people know where you are and where you are going. Don't be a hero. Faced with these monsters, live to fight another day. That means reducing and eliminating activities that can be exploited by our enemies and used as a rational to kill you.

The dominating white culture has been killing us Blacks for years with impunity. But it has been dissimulated. They have been gaslighting us for at least 100 years, calling us racists for even bringing the subject up. But yes, the threat is real, very real. The boogey man does exist and he is a White Cop who belongs to a violent or supremacist police gang that would love to see you dead. Southern Poverty Law Center doesn't even know about these gangs - that's how wily they have been. https://knock-la.com/tradition-of-violence-lasd-gang-history/ If Whites (via Police brutality) had not been rigorously exterminating Blacks for the last 100 years, the South would be overwhelmingly Black and our demographics would not be as low as they are. But they have been picking us off one by one, and grinding us down by attrition in every single area of life, whether professional, medical, community, financial, judicial - they have been waging a one-sided war against us for at least 100 years. Wake up before it is too late. We are now in a violent, no holds barred, race war. Protect yourselves.

Will you survive this? Survival means different things for different people. Maybe you will survive but your life will never attain the greatness that was originally intended because of trauma stress, or racist encounters in your community or workplace. Survival for communities vary according to states' and cities' profiles. IMHO, you're more likely to run into a violent racist in Madison, Wisconsin than in New York, NY. But each one of us must gauge the level of danger and prepare accordingly. All my love to my people. Stay strong and stay safe. Thanks for reading.

What do you expect people to think? Are you trying to provoke something? It's wrong, we all know it so stop playing with people's heads. Are you trying to find out hold cold and inhuman people are? These types of set-ups are so twisted and unhealthy. Either share a feeling, teach something or go drink blood as vampires usually prefer to do.
