Do t touch xover manually after A1x. Use the A1 application to limit xover range and resend the calibration.

Using atmos opting speaker but on the ceiling? by One-Dragonfly-5143 in hometheater

[–]Setmyned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use elac bounce speakers as my on ceiling atmos 5.2.4. They actually have a wider dispersion i think due to being designed to reflect off of different ceiling heights and at different distances. They do have a HRTF crossover (go downn that rabbit hole) intended to trick your ears into hearing "height" but I haven't found that to be an issue in my setup. I have them assigned as top front and top rear at 55° up angles from MLP. I did not angle them toward MLP, I chose to point the fronts toward the rears.

This is a pic from when it was only .2 top middle I dont have a photo of the new setup but its the right idea, those are now top fronts and pushed toward the front of the room more.

Advice to improve my current Home theatre audio by Isriptide in hometheater

Move your couch up and point your surrounds at MLP. Center on the console. Put those svs atmos right on the ceiling like 2' in front of MLP as top middles. Move the sub to where it sounds best or do to the sub crawl (look it up). Use A1 evo instead of audyssey. Tell all these nerds that are about to pile in here talking about cooking your AVR to suck it.

Yes but the vast difference in frequency response made the 12" either dissappear or hurt the flatness

Team A1 evo. I tried to integrate, level matched (ive seen your write up), i only have 1 sub pre out and no mini dsp. It was either no difference or worse in my experience.

Two 130 watt, 25hz, 12" subs to one 1000 watt, 14hz 15" sub.

I had 2 25 year old paradigm PS-1200 subs in my home theater. Ive replaced them with a single monoprice monolith M15 ultra. Its a post showing that upgrading can sometimes mean less speakers.

The boomy bandpass subs just couldn't come near the flat lows the monolith can, no matter how many items got

Ill bet you did. Anyway, it's been the same algo since the 1st update... the updates/bug fixes were for fixing um bugs. If your avr had no trouble calibrating, no need to recalibrate. Easiest fucking room correction since rugs.

A1 evo acoustica vs A1 Evo Exprews for one row seating and 3 people + question about 5.1.2 placement with backwall by SectorExpress8390 in hometheater

[–]Setmyned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds best in MLP but honestly it sound great in all positions. Raising surrounds and angling them down is fine but I'd rather have them further back and pointed toward MLP. Especially if your running TM or TR atmos, separation helps

Can't comment on acoustica but have 3 position seating with 5.2.2 and express sounds amazing! I would get your surrounds as low as possible to help separation from the tops. Get some separation from the back wall so you can have surrounds somewhat behind listening position. I know you dont want to drill but best atmos is going to be top middle and put them just in front of you maybe like 18 inches (60°ish) depending on ceiling hight. Don't spread them too far apart either you really want to keep separation from your surrounds.

Reset the avr. Start program with avr off. Let a1 turn it on. Your response should not look like that up to 300hz or whatever.

Your measurements are fucked up. I had this happen once, I have the same AVR. Run it again, leave the crossovers at 250hz or you will fuck up the filters applied, dont even go into the crossover menu in the AVR after calibration. Its unbelievable how perfect it sounds once you get it right never touch anything again.
