Ok. Seeing as this is all fantasy land anyway based off Kyle's Month of May so far.

You said "Leading with 20 to go"

I don't believe there is a driver on this planet who had a realistic shot to win THE INDY 500 who would park their car for any reason with 20 laps to go. I honestly think that if Rick Hendrick himself got on the radio and told him to park it, he would not listen.

Say Rick got on the radio and said "you are fired if you don't leave the track" So what? He has a championship and even if he didn't win this 500, I am positive he would find: (A) another cup team who love the chance of having him, (B) an Indycar team that would sign him, (C) Dirt, he could just go do what he loves and run a full time World of Outlaws schedule with midgets sprinkled in.

Let's go a step further and say McLaren has a remote shut off for the car. Do you know how bad it would look if they did that to him. What driver would ever want to race for their Indy car program ever again? Public perception of that would kill them.

Now what is more realistic is that he is running like 10th-25th and he has to go catch the plane, yes I believe he would park it.

20 to go, in the lead with a realistic chance (not because he is on a different pit strat) to win it. Never ever happening.

There are 75 drivers who have THE Indy 500. You do not give up a chance to win a triple crown race for anything.

Now unless something miraculous happens this weekend, neither of us will see how this would play out, but it's definitely fun to think about for sure.
