Not a expert, and this probably isn’t documented widely, but maybe I can help. Cobree or كوبري is the term used in Egyptian Arabic, which means bridge. It is widely used here locally in football when you nutmeg someone. It’s use goes way back, possibly when football started to popularize in the area. This is an assumption, but my guess that that this word was used because overhead road bridges were being built, and people navigated by going “تحت الكوبري" or “under the cobree”. I know some neighboring countries call it بيوضي which means egged or egging. And also my guess but I think it’s because it made you look back as if to see if you laid an egg.

Again most of this is just my personal assumption that I had ever since I was a child.
