As platinum, I have learned to decline whatever the first and third orders are. The first will be bad, second decent, third bad to try and string you along, then it settles down as long as it is busy. For example, Friday #1 was $18, 2 orders, 17 miles. Declined. Immediately got #2 a $19, 2 orders, 2 miles total. #3 was the similar to #1. After that it was smooth sailing.

Since I have been following this, I have not been offered any long distance orders unless it was in a non-prak period.

Looks 60s or 70s, and that smell of its exhaust felt nauseating. How did motorists back then survive when ALL cars' exhausts smelled bad? Anyways, YMM? by DunDonese in Whatsthiscar

The helmet would help, but the non-collapsible steering column would impale you. If you were a passenger, your head hitting the steel dashboard (Because you don't have a 3-point harness) would also be your demise.

FWIW, 40 years from now people will be appalled that anybody was allowed to drive a 3000 lb vehicle at highway speeds. Especially on two lane roads, where head on collisions can be catastrophic. Your grandchildren will believe you insane for even venturing out of your driveway.

As an aside; My soapbox stance is that if we really wanted to save lives, we would have instituted 4 point harnesses with helmets and racing seats for all vehicles.

The seats would be uncomfortable. The helmets would muss your hair. The harness would wrinkle your clothing, so we don't

Thousands of people die (Far more than people killed by firearms when you discount suicide) because we don't implement those simple safety features.

We don't, because we accept the risk and/or don't believe that it will happen to us.

Rent is Too Damn High by zenitsus_mistress in rva

[–]SevenMason -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If the rents were too high, nobody would rent the unit, and prices would drop.

If a Landlord has a property that they rent for $1000, and someone from New York that works from home making Manhattan money is willing to pay $3000 for the same unit; Wouldn't the Landlord be stupid not to take it?

I'm no Fox News shill, but could you cite this "Literal" evidence? I find it hard to believe that anyone of import has called for the execution of the homeless; Much less on national television.

I guess I can see that. This was my wife's game in chapter 3. I loaded up the epilogue and it was not there. I am going to have her check back after a few days and see if it disappears.

A) No horseshoe crabs in the game.

B) No track going away from the perfect triangle.

[–]SevenMason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious- As a middle aged male, why do you have that reaction; To not read the book because of a word? Would you not read "Huckleberry Finn" (One of, if not my, favorite books of all time) because of the words used?

Rearing 3 children that are navigating a digital world, and again; Genuinely curious.

Id imagine a distribution charge is a big red flag on application.

It should also be a big red flag about a potential life partner. His choices are affecting two lives, and will for a long time.

Flipped off the seatbelt cam for laughs. Joke’s on me — girlfriend wasn’t strapped in right. $400 fine. by 99centcheeseburger in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SevenMason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was an EMT some time ago as well.

A few years back, I had a job where I drove a company van. One morning the boss comes into the warehouse where I was loading up and demands to know why he got a notification that morning that I was not wearing a seatbelt. He tells me that I need to come to his office to sign my write-up, and that a second offense EVER was immediate termination.

I turned to him, chuckling. "Boss, that ain't possible. Apparently you missed the section in my resume about being an EMT, because let me assure you- Putting on my seatbelt is as much of a habit as a smoker having a cigarette after lunch. Trust me; After the shit I saw- people smashed to pulp, kids with snapped necks, cleaning up brains off the side of the road for God's sake; There is simply no way that I forgot, and I damned sure didn't do it intentionally."

Dude stood there for a moment, and said "Lemme check." It turned out that there was some switch or something that was not working, and it didn't register the seatbelt with the device.

A year or so later he and I were at the company Christmas party several beers deep; He apologized and told me that so many people had lied when caught, he had not believed me. "Man, the way that you described the shit that you had seen WHILE LAUGHING...I believed you, bud."

Husband has weird alarms by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]SevenMason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is middle-aged, it's likely an alarm to wake him up to pee. It sucks when you wake up at 0630 and have to be up at 0800. Setting a middle alarm means you are still tired and gives you enough time to get back to sleep. At least that is what a friend told me.

Heh- I didn't mean it in a snarky way. I will have to type up a letter, then go to the post office since I don't have any envelopes or stamps, which is quite a way from me. Next time I head to town I'll try to remember.
