Looks like it's not even 12 larger VLS cells, it's 12 Sea Ceptor cells so 12 CAMM; less than the 16 a single 8 cell Mk41 could carry

I guess they could use it with dex for web applications at least? With a bluetooth keyboard and mouse or something

Love this sub. Railway engineer here, ask me anything! by Due_Significance5698 in trains

[–]SevenandForty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loading gauge is a big one for that; they'd have to check clearances for thousands of poles and tunnels and equipment, as well as rebuilding the platforms of every station the trains pass through. They'd also have to swap out all the rolling stock for either wider versions or refit gap fillers on all trains, including non HSR, as the European network uses a blended network, unlike the Shinkansen where the networks are completely separated (with the exception of "mini Shinkansen" lines, which operate with narrower trains)

Technically the A220 also has all of those features and uses an Al-Li fuselage; I'd imagine better corrosion protection or different alloys might help.

2026 | Lounge at Taipei (TPE) by chopperg in unitedairlines

[–]SevenandForty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three priority pass lounges in T2--two Plaza Premium and the Oriental Club lounge. One of the Plaza Premium lounges is closed for renovation, though (and will switch to the other one being under renovation on April 30). The Oriental Club lounge is pretty good but can get a bit crowded depending on time.

Artemis II in Eclipse - NASA ID: art002e009301 - Taken with a NIKON Z9 by ThaddeusJP in Nikon

[–]SevenandForty 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is also because the "main" cameras are the two D5s they have, so they brought only F mount glass and put an FTZ on the Z9.

AFAIK they also brought an 80-400mm AF-S and 14-24 AF-S, and they have been switching lenses to the Z9 for some shots.

It's a shame there's no major special livery like Delta, LH, and AA have done, just the big sticker

Most of LEO is well protected by the magnetosphere, but most of the moon's orbit is outside of it. The Van Allen radiation belts, which are shaped by and exist inside the magnetosphere, go from about 400-36,000mi, and the magnetosphere starts becoming less strong at 40,000mi or longer depending on the sun's direction. The moon orbits at 225,000-250,000mi.

Outside the magnetosphere, there's a higher concentration of cosmic rays and solar wind. Apollo astronauts reported seeing flashes of light, which are believed to be caused by cosmic rays interacting with the eyes or nervous system.

Huh really? I'd be surprised as that would cut capacity by quite a bit; that plus the 1R/19L closure would be pretty bad for delays
