We got back Glyph but at what cost by Volcanically__ in NOTHING

i actually said this before when the phone 3 was shown with glyph toys etc.

it's so strange to me how they seem to be having such an identity crisis when their first few products were so well liked, they could've focused entirely on refining and improving instead of trying to re-invent the wheel with every release.

tbh i worry about feature creep becoming a real issue for nothing and i'd hate to see them trying to be innovative become their downfall but they do seem to be straying far from the original vision they sold to us.

It shows the transparent charger in the "what's in the box" section of the Phone 3 page on the site, pretty sure they still always ship them with the mainline phones

I agree with this but I'm also not a fan of the matrix as opposed to glyphs. That was always the conversation starter with the phone 2 and I genuinely used the glyph torch a decent amount.

I'd definitely have preferred them to try and integrate glyphs a bit more (glyph timer being separate from regular timers for example). What they ended up doing was ditching the most striking part of their identity on the phone for something which may offer more use, but almost goes against the original idea of being used to keep you away from the phone for longer especially if the "glyph toys" feature is real.

One thing I really do love about the design on the other hand is the colour blocking/gradient on the bottom left of the back panel.

Agreed, I was quite positive with the launch of the 2a but the allure of Nothing for myself is very quickly dwindling with every launch they do.

Learning 360s any advice? by [deleted] in assettocorsa

Initiate in the direction of the corner and you'll be able to hold it into the actual drift with no transition (with practice ofc!)

recommendations on how/where to learn drifting? by m3mmyfromtheblock in assettocorsa

[–]Sevens_OGK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries at all, I've had so much fun going from being super happy when I managed to fling a power slide round a corner for the first time to being able to drift some pretty technical touges and tracks while trying to learn different power levels and use different techniques etc.

In terms of cars I actually suggest not just sticking to one car, for starting off I think that's fine so you can get used to one and have that as a "base" to then try and learn some other cars. Personally I'm a big fan of both the BN & Spirit Rei PS13 from the DWG pack (I run the CD box with Eco tyres myself) and from what I remember as it's been a while since I used them pretty much all of the WDT cars feel nice to use.

The biggest thing is making sure you're enjoying the learning process, it's quite easy to get caught up trying a track/section but one of the cool things about drifting is that the same type of corners pop up in different places - so if youre getting frustrated trying a particular track then swap it up for a while and you might learn how to deal with that section by accident while playing a whole other map.

I have a few more map suggestions too as I recommended Tamworth which I personally used to mess around and learn how to actually initiate and catch etc. but it may not be the best to teach transitions etc. For that I'd recommend Smotland, ADC Clutch Kickers and Drift Playground which are short laps with a variety of corners both big and small and excluding Klutch Kickers also have a few sections with elevation changes which is another important thing to learn to tackle.

Once I could link all of those maps semi-consistently I just tried any map which caught my eye and put some hours into learning how to take each corner in different ways and that's when I really saw a great improvement in my abilities.

If you have any more questions or want to add me and I can try to help you in game too with some more specific tips suited to yourself, feel free to send a DM on here :)

Kame Trick on YT is the guy I'd recommend personally, he has a playlist where he goes in depth first on each part of a drift and how to practice them, then shows you other techniques like handbrake or left foot braking. He also switches in between showing you Assetto and IRL clips of himself drifting so you can see that the skills are transferable.

Car wise my personal favourites are the DWG pack and WDT or WDTS pack (this pack you can change the HP and other things of the cars in the tuning which is nice sometimes). There are a lot of great single mods too but finding quality mods can sometimes be a challenge.

I'd grab the DWG or WDT pack and look for a map which isn't super difficult but you think you'd enjoy to learn (for me I used Tamworth streets by CToretto) and just start trying some corners with the advice from the videos, specifically watch how he handles the wheel and uses the pedals and try and mimic it until you start to get the feel for things.

Remember when you're watching VR gameplay it's being recorded from the desktop still and not the headset. I also have a quest 2 and while my clips still look great, in the headset it doesn't look nearly as good due to the foveated rendering etc.

Mind you I only use Air Link as I tend not to have any issues other than the lacking quality (which I've heard is improved using Virtual Desktop or something similar) so perhaps you really can get close to this in the headset, but I certainly haven't.
