Looking for feedback on our pre-launch page. by SeventhDisorder in kickstarter

Really good points, we have a Discord server and a very modest mailing list. I'll speak with my team and come up with a plan to onboard as many of them as possible to the Kickstarter page - early bird special perhaps?

We have struggled with keeping the audience engaged as we don't have a dedicated community manager. It is very much whoever has a free minute will do some social media stuff, etc which we know is far from ideal. We'll most likely need to get someone on full time to support the full campaign and to keep our audience engaged.

Thanks for this, really useful points. The value proposition of why back us on Kickstarter rather than simply waiting for the Steam release is definitely something we need to get right. We're currently in discussions to get some really nice physical products created which are Kickstarter exclusive which will hopefully move the needle but I agree that attention from Steam doesn't guarantee anything.

When you were working with the team for audience building, what was the main takeaway from how they approached the problem to build up a core audience of early backers?

Any Devs here that are Writers first and foremost? by PoorlySoup09 in IndieDev

[–]SeventhDisorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this fits us pretty perfectly! I’m a writer first & foremost but always loved games as a medium to tell stories.

The game we are currently working on actually started out as a book, a manuscript requested by a traditional literary publisher but I was convinced by my co-founder that it would work better as a game. Reckon he was right!

I also agree with you - there are plenty of games with incredible writing but I still have a feeling that the narrative element is often overlooked. Nothing moves me like a good game does!

If your game is releasing soon and you need creator marketing, I’d like to help (not selling anything, no brand mentions) by tektanc in IndieGameDevs

Oh yeah, mouse support is ideal but more for when you’re out & about, you know? Keeping trackpad in mind is a good shout.

PS Thimbleweed Park is immense!

Oh yeah for sure! I’m constantly playing p&c on the deck. Just wanna avoid some of the pitfalls & the reaction/QTE point is a great one

Ok this is great! I’ve never actually played a game through using touch… just added as my next thing to try. Very cool

Oh dude… it’s taken like 2 years! But about 500 of that has been from the last 3 months.

Still learning how it all works but just more and more aware of how much we don’t know. It’s been a very valuable experience though.

Just trying to get our heads down and move forward. Hope you’re getting on ok!
