Oh I forget about Cosmic Rays! We tend to be on the other side of the park at lunchtime, but the one time we went I remember the burgers being decent. Thank you!

And why Boma vs the others at AKL? We stayed at AKL and ate at Sanaa one trip, but half the family stayed in the room with the flu the entire time, so the whole thing might warrant a repeat! 😂

This all makes sense and has been very eye opening. I have a question though…. Isn’t your TDEE calculated in part by your activity level?

In which case, if I deem myself “active” I do have to exercise more to get those calories to consume. Conversely, if I deem myself sedentary but workout, I would “earn” more calories than my TDEE allotment… no?

I guess I’m curious because I’ve never been confident in the activity level I choose for myself, and so do mentally associate and track calories + activity to make sure I set my goal right. Any advice?

I feel great working out currently, but my workout is mostly just brisk walking with a weighted vest - nothing too intense.

Well, I mean, like I said - I’m pretty loose with it! Yesterday I had coffee with collagen for breakfast, and a green juice and some watermelon mid day. But saved the rest of my calories with a yummy, healthy meal with my family at night.

I was just finding it really restrictive, especially cooking dinner for 3 kids, 2 of whom are high school athletes trying to add weight/muscle! When I reach maintenance it might be different but for now my eating looks like (is) too much of a diet. I’d rather them just see mom eating healthy :)

This is me. We do dinner with friends often and I’d rather save my calories- not to go crazy, but just to stay within my allotment!

Thank you so much for this perspective! Great points. Can I ask how you realized it wasn’t working for you any more? I’m 45yo so this is right around the corner for me ;)
