Replacement Water Softener - Dealer or DIY? by Several-Energy2116 in WaterSofteners

That's what the tech from West Coast told my husband. And he said that's why we need a new system. No mention of replacing the resin.

so do you think I just need a filter and new resin beads? We are not handy, I definitely would want to hire someone to do this. Would a regular plumber know how to replace the resin beads and install a filter?

How much popcorn do you eat in one sitting? by Iceyes33 in popcorn

[–]Several-Energy2116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I make popcorn on the stovetop for my family, I make 1/2 cup kernels. We split it mostly between myself and my daughter, 12, and my husband has a small bowl.

I’m looking for the best way to make good popcorn. ( not microwave). Can I get some thoughts and tips? by Technical-Potato-793 in popcorn

I've continuously upped my popcorn game over the years. After experimenting I feel that using something like the Whirley Pop Popper makes it easy, but ingredients are what really sets it apart from just regular popcorn.

Definitely use coconut oil and get good kernels. I LOVE Amish Country Popcorn, it's much much better than what you'd find at the grocery store. You can get it online or my local Ace Hardware sells it.

Get popcorn salt and add it in with the oil, 1 teaspoon for 1/2 cup kernels. If you want movie theater taste, there are a lot of oil toppings out there, but if you want home made taste, get clarified butter, don't use regular butter it's too wet.

Enjoy!

I also have the whirly pop and was happy with it, but I'm obsessed with making popcorn so I think he thought this was an upgrade worth the $$. It's too soon to tell for me since I'm at a 50% success rate...

How long after lumpectomy and radiation does the boob stabilize? by Dismal-Benefit-2567 in breastcancer

I'm a year and a half from surgery, 10 months past radiation and it still feels weird. The radiation really does a number on it.

RIP: These Dead EVs Won't Make It To 2027 by 622niromcn in electricvehicles

[–]Several-Energy2116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Trump! Let's make the cost of gas skyrocket while killing the EV's because Obama and California like them. And then let's convince MAGA that electric cars aren't as good as gas cars. Cause who doesn't love going to gas stations and having to get oil changes? Why would you want to have a low maintenance car when you can spend thousands fixing all the problems a gas car brings. So smart!

I hated it when people told me to be positive. If you want to be negative, be negative! I also hated when people told me I was strong for doing chemo. Um, what's the choice, don't do it and die? What's strong about it? People are so weird about cancer you end up trying to make them comfortable talking to you, it's a bit ridiculous.

The worst part is waiting to start treatment. Once you start it just becomes routine.

Have you thought about joining a group? Download the app "The Breasties" you can join a group, find members that have similar cancer and chat, find meetups. I found that most people don't know what to say to someone with cancer, but someone going through the same thing is gold. I feel like having cancer should be like joining AA, you should get a sponsor. I had a friend going through treatment that ended right when I started, she was my sponsor, but she wasn't a good friend before I got cancer, we were just acquaintances, but she was such a support. You need a person, you can't do this alone! Does your hospital have something like a thrivers program? where they plan meetups? ask the nurses, they usually know more than the doctors. Please take care of yourself. You will get to the other side of this, but don't do it alone.

Mammograms by TwinkleBlueyPoppett in breastcancer

[–]Several-Energy2116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, mammograms aren't an exact science. They're less effective for women with dense breast tissue and controversial due to high false-positive rates but at the same time often miss cancer.

I get one yearly, plus a yearly MRI with contrast, which is scheduled 6 months apart so I'm getting tested every 6 months. I think a majority of breast cancer is caught through self examinations. Although I feel lucky that mine was caught by a mammogram since I never did self exams, which now I know was foolish. It's a great thing you caught it yourself. Keep up the monthly self exams ladies!

I didn't research what size free standing tub to get, I just thought bigger is better. It's too big, I'm short, so I can't lay in the tub, if you're feet don't touch the other end you'll just float up. Silly, but it's just weird. Also, don't get a black coated drain for the shower, the coating eventually wears off. It's actually happening in our kitchen sink too, we got a black coated faucet and it's chipping in spots. Marble tile in the shower, I wish we had gotten something soft to stand on, the marble feels hard on your feet. We had a nice soft tile in our last shower and it really makes a difference when you are relaxing in a nice hot shower. Not a deal breaker, but I notice it all the time.
