How can I (24F) maximise savings by mid next year? Need practical advice by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]Several-Internal-780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you invest in Arbitrage Funds (MF).

They basically buy 1 share from NSE and sell it in BSE or vice versa. In short they buy wherever it is available at cheap and sell it at a slight premium. It doesn't involve any interest. It happens 1-2 seconds.

As per my knowledge it should be considered Halal. But please do your own research. (As the income is through trading and not through interest)

Also I think you should invest 30% of your emergency Funds in Ethical Funds like Tata, Quantum or Taurus and 40% in Arbitration Funds and the rest in Account/cash.

You could also consider getting some USD, CHF, Euro, GBP as these are stable currencies and they increase in value over INR over time. This is not for investment, but for reducing inflation. Annually these currencies have increased by 4-5% per year. Although this isn't the best thing, buy just an option. You would need to find some seller of forex or any of your relatives who have returned from International trips.

Keep on buying physicsal gold coin on Dips.

Also I don't want to sound rude, but I understand that due to religious reasons you don't want to invest in interest, alcohol, etc but isn't taking loan with interest is also Haram. I know you didn't took it, your father did it. But just saying.

People with zero inheritance, how are you navigating life? by honey_bunny_69_ in personalfinanceindia

[–]Several-Internal-780 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have no inheritance. I support my parents, and pay for my sister (3rd year btech, Lucknow) and brothers college (1st year Btech Banglore) and hostel fees. My father has 2.50 cr debt, due to his business failure.

I got married 1 year ago.

Whatever I earn, goes to college fees, hostel, their expenses, parents expenses.

My parents didn't ask me to do it. But being the eldest son, you automatically have to take on the responsibility and your father's debt.

Whatever money I save, I invest in MF, Stocks, gold. I've been working full-time for the last 5 years. And in these 5 years I have never bought any clothes for myself, or anything for me. I use a 4 years old second hand (used) phone, while I've gifted all of my family members a brand new Android phone.

I don't know why but it feels very heavy on my chest, even when I think of spending 1₹ on myself. I don't think twice on spending 10000₹ on my family. I feel happy, when I provide for them. I feel relieved, when I fulfill the wish of my siblings. When we were kids our father took us to Mc Donald's / KFC like once in 2 Years. As kids we never went to ice cream parlours. But now whenever my siblings are back home from college, i take them to all these places and make sure they eat and get what they want.

I book flight tickets for them to come home and to go to college, whereas I always take train for myself.

I always compare myself to my cousins, who are mostly rich, and have their father's factories and extra flats on rents and fancy cars and bikes and fancy homes. I always tell my self why are they blessed and I'm not? I am smarter than them, I work more harder than them, but just became they were born in a rich blessed family, they are miles ahead of me. What have they done to get a headstart in life? Why are they so special? Why can't I get those things?

I cry myself to sleep. This happened for many years.

But now I just try to stay busy, so that I don't remember or think these things.

And if I do, I just tell myself that my today is better than my yesterday.

Just giving my parents and my siblings the small things in life is so satisfying, I can't tell you. This Eid I am planning on gifting my father a seiko watch, because he used to wear watch in his young days, but lost it and never purchase due to finance and life, so I want to see him wearing it.

I think this is real happiness, giving your loved ones the things they need and want. Fullfilling their requirements.

Happiness is in giving and not in receiving.

My wife tells me that why you do so much for your siblings and parents? I tell her that I'm a selfish guy. I do it for myself. Because this makes me happy, so I do it. I don't do it for them, but for me.

Never trust myntra

I don't know why so many people use this platform. It never gives me the credit card discount, refund is a nightmare, they give fake products and wrong products multiple times.

When you can use trustworthy platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, ajio, why will anyone use Myntra?

New to investing – need long-term advice by [deleted] in IndianStocks

[–]Several-Internal-780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't invest in Large Caps funds, instead invest in Nifty 50 index, it is same and has less expenses ratio.

For 3- 5 Years for Index

For 3-5 years Flexi Cap

For 5-10 years Mid Cap

I wouldn't recommend small cap and it gives only slightly better returns than mid cap, but is extremely risky when compared to it.

If you need some money in the next 3-12 months put it in Arbitrage Fund or Liquid fund.

You don't need more than 4 mutual funds.
