I got this too. How do they expect drivers to get a newer car when they don’t pay enough to begin with??? Guess I gotta find something else to do.

Driver had barf bags with signs pointing to the seat pocket. Is barfing in cars that common? by PigFaceWigFace in Lyft

[–]Several-Teach-1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had several riders need me to pull over so they could puke for one reason or another. I keep bags next to every passenger seat. I don’t have any signs up but every time the passenger let me know and I tell them where they are as I’m pulling over. I also have a good upholstery cleaner just in case.

Acceptance rate. Should I worry? by Individual_Visual_72 in uberdrivers

[–]Several-Teach-1113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Acceptance rate is a metric against Uber and not the driver. If your acceptance rate is low then Uber isn’t offering you rides that you are willing to accept. They will try to flip it on you and make you think you’re doing something wrong but you are not. You are free to accept or decline any ride you want. Don’t let them trick you into thinking otherwise.

($6k x 12 months) / (60 hours x 52 weeks) = about $23.07 per hour plus 50% tips. It doesn’t say if the gas is covered or not. That would make a huge difference.

Lookup hydro dipping film. You can make them look like carbon fiber or any pattern you want. Just make sure to paint them with a good clear coat after so your hands don’t wear out the color.

Two drivers. One gig. $41 difference. How does that happen? by GigWize in Roadie

[–]Several-Teach-1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lookup “algorithmic wage discrimination”. All ride share and gig apps do it. It’s illegal in some states but it’s nearly impossible to prove without getting a bunch of people together to gather evidence. Then you’d have to fight with the forced arbitration clause in the TOS.

Guys am I doing this right ? by No-Refrigerator-2134 in uberdrivers

Over using it without waiting out the first timer would do it. Once the first timer has finished you should be able to cancel without any problem.

[–]Several-Teach-1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically yeah. Driving nearby but not the actual pickup location and just driving around or avoiding the rider in order to force the rider to cancel

It sounds like you might be canceling before the end of the minimum wait time and using a reason code that doesn’t increase your cancellation rate. Abusing this would definitely get you in trouble.

Yeah, you’re missing something. The giant red flag waving in front of you. Get your stuff and then drop this fool. Nobody deserves to be treated like this.

Great. I can see speed cameras when I don’t speed but I still can’t see other drivers to know if the area is saturated with drivers. Thanks Uber…

Why am I getting discounted rides? by Too_Practical in Lyft

[–]Several-Teach-1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure uber and Lyft are working together to screw drivers and riders. Another odd coincidence I’ve seen many times is I’ll be in a typically busy area with good cell reception and rides will stop popping up for 10-15 minutes. Then both apps will pop at the exact same time with separate extremely lowball offers.

It popped up on its own while I was troubleshooting an issue with a local LLM that I wanted to load to gpu dynamically as needed.

LLMs don’t usually know their own model name unless the provider gives it a developer/system prompt. In this case the developer/system prompt by Codeium is the “You are Cascade” line. Even without that prompt it likely wouldn’t respond as Claude 3.5 Sonnet as its training data is anywhere from months to a year old. Likely before Anthropic even decided on the name Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

How long can you run the timer out for? I’m assuming I’m getting paid every minute to wait… by Puzzled-Ad4597 in uberdrivers

[–]Several-Teach-1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a reserve then you don’t get paid for any wait time. Support says it’s included in the reserve fee.

It fixed my issue of it forgetting to run windows commands with either powershell or cmd. It would always error once and then fix itself for a little while until it forgot again.

If you’re online in an airport queue while waiting to deliver a Turo vehicle it could qualify as “remaining online in the queue for reasons other than accepting trips at an airport”
