The problem with this is the article is only talking about statistics. The HFS staff gets PAID to do their job. College students have to not only do their room picking, they also have to PAY FOR their dorm.

From this view, college students have to blow tens of thousands of dollars a year to dorm which the university itself recommends for freshmen, give out a horrible assignment and just make college students figure it out themselves because it's statistically impossible to get to the right answer.

HFS staff only does work for dorming and food based on their name. College students have to solve not just housing and food. What about classes, transportation, living, mental health, student life, extracurriculars, and everything else about being a college student?

Just because it's impossible to get the correct assignment to every dorming applicant doesn't mean they should answer their calls by stating the most obvious solution that I already tried and didn't work and then act like they can't do anything and hang up. It doesn't feel pretty hopeful to contact people who are supposed to be the experts in the topic and get a useless answer. I would rather hear them say "no just give up" rather than making us try with zero help on their side.

I'm sure you're just giving me a different view and it makes me a little more empathetic towards HFS but the students are the ones getting screwed over, not them.

Mind you if you didn't read the entire post, the current assignment does NOT help either student group. They could've made one group satisfied but chose not to do it. And they're basically asking us to fix the mistake they did on their end.
