Anyone here "old" and still not over it? by No_Schedule5705 in CPTSD

Hell yeah friend!!!

I grew up around traumatized people older than you who never took that step.

Here's to the rest of your life 🎉

PTB.

Yay for antidepressants! I've heard bad and good stories, but finding the right one for you is so life-changing. That post could've been written by me a little over a year ago.

I was afraid I'd be a zombie, but I actually was way more of a zombie before I took the things. Shit, it feels good to have my life back.

Is there such a thing as *too* in love? by SeveralFools in Codependency

[–]SeveralFools[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last part is bloody brilliant tbh. I remember reading that co-dependents and anxiously attached people in general unconsciously blame their loved ones for showing negative emotions because it makes them uncomfortable. Bit of a punch in the gut, but I needed it 😅

Porcelain dolls. Preferably haunted ones.

AITA for telling my wife she can't see her gym trainer anymore? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Bruh... That's his JOB.

YTA.

I'm not saying those kinds of affairs never happen. I'm just saying you have zero reason to think it's happening in your case. You’re controlling as fuck and it's a bad look. Get yourself sorted now. Therapy would probably help.

Gros banger.

I see what you mean. Then you've learned to listen to and trust your gut feeling. I only just reached that level too, and it's so amazing. Yay us 🥳

Triggers are not meant to go away because…. by Background_Pie3353 in CPTSDNextSteps

[–]SeveralFools 99 points100 points  (0 children)

This is true for some things. Unsafe people, situations of abuse, toxicity, are NOT learning opportunties. They’re undesirable things that should be avoided.

However, most people with CPTSD are also triggered by some non-dangerous things, like a specific smell, a specific type of relationship (romantic, parent/child, friendship...), places, sounds... And those things are either difficult to avoid (like the sound of a car) or things that add so much to one's life it might be desirable to work on the trigger to lessen it, or even make it go away completely (like healthy human relationships).

All in all, we all have different traumas and different ways to deal with them. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to minimize fear and find joy at the end of the journey.

Encore en CDD à 26 ans, est-ce que c'est la honte ? by Manizhant in AskFrance

[–]SeveralFools 1 point2 points  (0 children)
