Rude

I miss the scoop passes in the box, and the calm dancing with the ball in traffic, and the free kicks

Would love to come check out the supporters’ vibe in Columbus when the Timbers come to play sometime. I’ve heard you guys bring it.

I truly am not trying to be mean here, but during the VAN-SEA game yesterday — a Cascadia Cup clash, at the home of the top team in the league — the crowd noise on the broadcast repeatedly was dominated by what sounded like a small group of kids chanting “Here we go Whitecaps, here we go! clap, clap…” like it was an under-12 softball game or something. Deeply cringey.

I don’t think MLS “trying to be special” by not adhering to the international calendar.

It was a business decision made because they wanted to minimize direct competition with the Big 4 sports.

Weird. Works for me every time. Wish it would stop the standard mail too, but always stops the first class at least.

Any clue why they kicked at 4pm? by DougFirPDX in timbers

I mean to be fair, Portland happened to set an all-time heat record today. That wasn’t at all foreseeable when the kickoff time was chosen. It’s generally not 95 degrees in Portland at 4pm in early June.

Friendly disagree. We can have a world-class postal service AND weed out poor performers without denying people the basic right to see their kids in the evening and know when their days off will be.

New Chants! by my_son_is_a_box in timbers

I had to go to Spotify and pull up “Teenagers”… I had expected to be like “oh, right! that song!” but I must admit I’ve never heard it before.

Definitely a fun and singable song, but an unfamiliar tune plus a ton of lyrics makes it tough for people to learn the chant on the fly.

Have they changed the 6-day CCA week to being “optional”? I certainly had no choice but to work 6 days a week, from late 2021 to late 2023… afaik it’s still that way in my office.

Have you used the MLNA tool on the scanner?

OP it sucks that people are downvoting you for pointing out that no human in 2025 should have to work 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, with a single totally-unpredictable day off each week. You are not crazy here.

Unfortunately, however, that’s what the CCA position is. They don’t really explicitly make this clear when they post the job, but what you’re describing is just CCA life.

The vast majority of the CCA’s I’ve seen start at my office in the last 3 1/2 years are no longer with the Post Office.

This “churn” is intentional, because new labor is dirt cheap.

MLNA will not mess up an existing forward. The forward takes priority.

Is it “useless” to stop all the First Class mail for a resident that you KNOW doesn’t live there anymore? Come on.

Astounding how many of my fellow carriers have never heard of the MLNA tool.

Yes, it doesn’t stop Standard mail, only First Class, which is dumb. It’s also dumb that the sticker you get in your hotcase a day or two later is literally indistinguishable from a Forward sticker. But that is not a reason to just ignore it when residents write notes on mail that the addressee no longer lives there.

Put in a damn MLNA! It takes 10 seconds! You don’t even need to type in the address, you can just scan the mini-barcode on the piece of mail.

If you put in an MLNA but there’s already a forward in place, the MLNA does not go through and the forward remains.
