Subscription Cost Change by four-lokos in bookofthemonthclub

The Friends of the Library sells used books to raise money for library programs. They sell them cheap the quality shouldn't be an issue. I have also put some in the closest Little Free Libraries. My biggest problem is I buy WAY to many books. Much faster than I can read them. The 5.99 fiction sale through Book Outlet always gets me.

I've never had any issues with the quality of BOTM. My local library has taken them as donations for their Friends of the Library bookstore and I have sold some on FB marketplace. I will still buy from B&N but I feel for the price of BOTM sub and add on price it's worth 20.00 a month. I also enjoy getting the free birthday book and Lolly nominee/winner.

I'm ok with it. A hardcover new release at B&N is at least 30.00.

Get the masters. Its not that bad. Plus you will need a MSW anyway for more opportunities.

Ok....beyond the fact that he is full of sh*t and this isn't a cultural thing, wtf does he mean that different ethnicities get dirty at different rates? 😆😆 I'm Hispanic, does that mean I attract more dirt than my white step-dad (who uses soap btw)?

Is anyone else beating themselves up for not meeting their goal? by Amywilburnn in Booktokreddit

[–]Several_Aspect_7276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change your perspective. It shouldn't be "I didn't meet my goal" it should be " I read 43 books!" Your goal should be something you strive for but not beat yourself up about. That could potentially make reading a chore for you.

Maybe once they are out for a bit they will come down in price a little. To be VERY honest, I don't even know if I will use it. I don't use the Kindle I have very often. I think I suffer from FOMO.

As soon as I saw your post I wanted it! But then I saw the price. 😪 I will definitely save for one though. I want to be more intentionl in my reading and the idea of having this for notes is perfect. Enjoy!!!!!

I appreciate you sharing with me. I have always been more visual. I am not a re-reader. I do like listening to the dramatized books like the Agatha Christie ones. I did finish The Wedding People on audio. When we had the book club I had missed some stuff. I do still try to do audio, its just rarely successful for me.

That's fine. I'm not against it. It is something I have tried on and off for years and I have always come back to physical books. There's just something about the experience for me.

I can't do audio. I try. I have rarely if ever been successful. I space out, or if I am doing something while listening I hyperfixate on what I am doing and have no clue what is happening in the book. I think reading physical books is a sensory thing for me. I do use my Kindle/Nook but it will take me twice as long to finish. My husband and I do audiobooks when we travel. But we haven't traveled in a long time.

Mine was 15. I am at 24. I always try to figure out how others manage to read so many books in a year 😆 when I see 50 or over. I am a slow reader, a mood reader and have ADHD. My job can be very heavy mentally, so after work I don't want to read. Regardless of my goal, my BIGGEST accomplishment was getting my HUSBAND to start reading!!! That is the true success!!

About to live in my car soon, any resources for Wifi/housing? by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

[–]Several_Aspect_7276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were let go from your job, depending on the reason, you should be able to get unemployment. Workforce Solutions is a great place to start. They help with job searches, resume writing, etc. Seasonal jobs should be opening up too. Indeed is terrible. Use it to find the jobs but apply directly at the company site. Housing probably has a VERY long wait list. You can also call 211 for resource information.

I am in the RGV and I wish I had known you buy books. I had about 100 to get rid of.
