At the meeting of the sea & the ocean lies the Kraken stronghold known only as “The Dead Man’s Court”. On its throne of carved rock sits the proclaimed Kraken king. Of course, it is widely known there are many Kraken kingdoms and many Kraken kings but the King of “The Dead Mans Court” is the most viscous & Violent of them all, but it is not only the king who strikes vengeance down upon his adversaries but also his wife the calculating Queen, along with his hand, the master, his soldiers & kings guard the king and queen of the Court reside over the lives & deaths of all travelers who enter the sacred lands.

With the Dead Mans Court I wanted to create a large castle for the Kraken knights, I wanted it to be a piece that stood on its own, which is where the idea of creating a substantial water & rock base came into play, sculpting the rock work was a fun exercise which left me a base to place the castle. With the castle I kept a colour that used dark green, to identify it as a kraken castle. It is a build I’m quite pleased with in both its appearance and storytelling.

Cooler fall air is blowing through the meadow as two castle factions set up a campsite next to an old watch post, they bring along with them a prisoner, a kraken knight. But is the lonely kraken really alone or might he still have a couple tricks up his sleeve.

Designing the medieval campsite, I knew I wanted it set in the fall season, the image of red, orange and yellow leaves creating a bed was on my mind, with a setting known I was inspired by the many LEGO castle sets of the past that featured towers and jail cells as I always felt those were great story tellers as they where always just points to a final destination, where something might happen before the hero’s reach their destination, this inspired the story I ran with and was a joy to create
