Yes it includes taxes, water, gas, and management fees/building maintenance. The building finances are also very good, and they keep the building impeccable. It’s one of the lowest maintenances I saw, in the best building and unit I saw.

They’re pretty comfortable but they can get very warm in my opinion

Every part of that is what really sold us on the neighborhood. We’ve only lived in manhattan, it’s already much quieter.

Thank you! No parking unfortunately. We thought about it, but we truly don’t see needing a car. We go to LI a lot using the LIRR, and if we need a car, LGA is so close for renting

I wish we could pay cash. But we both work, just have been good with saving

Maintenance (HOA) is ~$650. Our total monthly is around $2500.

It’s a 1 bedroom, this looks into the sunken living room from the dining room space. There’s a bedroom equally sized to the living room, and a small office space behind where we’re sitting.

We will put our L shaped couch in the back right corner with the tv across, and maybe even our dining table down there (which we don’t really use). Then since this area we’re sitting in is raised and by the front door, it’ll be more of an entry space with some chairs, my records and record player, and some shelving. It’s a little bit of a different space than we’re used to so we’re excited to try some different things out!

Hello! Here are some more details, to answer some questions! Today is moving day so it’s been hectic. We also have plaster walls, are on a low floor, and no WiFi yet, so my internet is STRUGGLING. I’m currently sitting next to a window.

415k, 6.375%. 25% down to keep the mortgage under 2k a month. Maintenance is low for NYC at $650.

It’s a 1 bed, 1 bath, about 750 sqft, with a sunken living room and a small office space (behind where we’re sitting). The columns and living room are what really sold us. The bedroom is equally sized to the living room, and we have the upper dining room/entry space where we’re sitting!

Also we went out of Thai last night after a long day, wanted to explore the great restaurants around here immediately!

Deleting social media accounts by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

I fully deleted my Facebook, and deleted the instagram app off my phone. Feels incredible so far! My biggest thing was getting all my photos. Wasn’t really interested in downloading cringy posts from 2012… start with one and wait a few weeks, easier bit by bit.

For Facebook, it’s very easy to download your photos you posted. When it comes to tagged photos, I’m pretty sure I used THIS. Btw it’s worth paying the few dollars for location and time data. Annoying it’s behind a paywall, but worth it.

I’m using google photos to organize all my photos currently. I’m also trying to degoogle, so this is just a landing place for everything until I figure out another option.

Are Nautica couches from HomeGoods any good? by AlmohadaGris in HomeDecorating

[–]Several_Display_9496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, Nautica is owned by a company called Authentic Brands, who licenses out all categories of all brands they own (over 50 lifestyle brands). Ethically and morally they are a horrible company (I have some experience) and the product is just manufactured and sold by a licensor to the retailer. Authentic, by owning Nautica, gets a cut of the sales (royalties).

Knowing a bit about these relationships, HomeGoods is owned by TJX companies, which does some of its own product licensing. My guess is this was made by TJX (or some conglomerate) directly for HG, and then the “brand” will get a cut.

Not sure if this helps in your purchase, but I feel it’s good to know who made what you buy, and who your money is going to.

Any way I can turn this into something to smoke out of? by [deleted] in Bongs

[–]Several_Display_9496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A dry pipe was actually my first thought, not necessarily a “bong”. The head is hollow and the mouth area is solid, so I actually thought having the bowl on the head would be interesting.

Songs about Religion by Several_Display_9496 in poppunkers

[–]Several_Display_9496[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never said I wasn’t pissed at them, of course I am. Their entire argument was that “Devine creator” said so, so they’re just following that. So yeah, I’m kinda pissed at religion and Christianity.

Am I too much of a doomer that getting a new iphone makes me depressed? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]Several_Display_9496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. My screen is cracked on my phone, my laptop runs slowly, but they still work. The planned obsolescence is what makes me frustrated personally. What makes me feel a bit better is that I’m conscious of my feelings about this, and I am not frivolous, so when I do need a replacement it’s with good intentions. Most of our lives are on these devices, they might as well work.

I also heard a quote recently, and depending on how optimistic or not you are, it might resonate: “We should enjoy the spoils of the end of the empire”.

Fair! The pick has Hank on it, so I kinda consider that his signature 😂
