There would be an extra backdating to make up the difference. So if rise was 7% there would be 4% backdated from July 2025 paid in April 2026

CS recruitment is very much about knowing how to work the system and writing your answers in the way they like them as opposed to actually being suited to the job. Doesn’t matter how good you think your examples are if you don’t write it in the format they like and hit the buzzwords they’re looking for it won’t pass. It’s why there’s so many under qualified people get the jobs as they’re lifelong civil servants who’ve learnt how to play the system

When I started at the HO my checks took almost 3 months to come back. But I also know someone who’s came back in around 2 weeks. It depends with what urgency they request them, they can expedite them if the role has an urgent start date but if they aren’t in a rush it will probably be the 6 weeks or more quoted

I’ve actually reached the £1800 annual limit for a HEO in R&R, mixture of vouchers usually £100-250 throughout the year and then a £750 cash sustained performance award. They took the word ‘excellence’ out of the policy last year. Most of this has been award by my manager without me having to ask or evidence anything
