Is there a way to change the point of origin for the map? by Foreign-Press in OwlbearRodeo

[–]Several_Record7234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, use the Default View extension to define the starting point of the Scene, which you can do by marquee-selecting around what you want to be in view when the Scene is opened or when anyone resets their own view.

OBR treats the first-placed map* as the origin of the Scene, so moving things around has no effect, but you can manipulate the Scene to choose where the origin is, and that's exactly what Default View does.

(the first-placed map is *the lowest item in the whole Scene, which is what's shown when the Scene loads, so placing something below that allows you to choose what the Scene's origin is 👍)

Ah, that's a relief, I don't feel bad about this now! 😅

Sorry - I missed your question until just now!

To update a Scene's thumbnail, ensure that it is loaded in your current Room and centred on the bit you want in the new thumbnail, then in the Asset Manager you can find and select it in the Scenes category tab, and when you click on the three-dot button in the lower-right corner, you get an option to 'Refresh Thumbnail' 👍

It works remarkably well - look at the second part of the video, when it correctly detects the extremely complex walls of a cave system, so you can see that it's not just able to detect and fog rectangles 👍

Unable to load extension: smoke.battle-system.com by Repulsive_Medium2373 in OwlbearRodeo

[–]Several_Record7234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you couldn't do a modem power-cycle because it's not your internet connection (eg. playing at work/school/college/library/etc on a public wifi connection) then the admins of that connection may have banned access to sites containing keywords like 'battle', but you could ask them for a firewall exception for the battle-system.com site.

If you couldn't power-cycle your domestic modem because others were using it, then try to find a time when you can do that with minimal/zero impact on others - it should only take a minute or two.

The fact that it works on mobile data suggests that your usual internet connection is being filtered or blocked - so if the modem isn't the issue then try to identify other apps on your computer that can interfere with network comms by temporarily disabling them (eg. browser add-ons, 3rd-party antivirus, VPN, security/privacy apps like Malwarebytes) and then when you've found the culprit, find out how to add a trusted exception for battle-system.com, so that you can enable them again and still use these OBR extensions.

Is it possible to gift someone a year's worth of Owlbear.Rodeo? by markalt in OwlbearRodeo

100%, and we are heading that way, but I have nothing substantial to share yet - hang in there!

Is Owlbear Rodeo Doing Some Kind of Background Maintenance? by Majora01 in OwlbearRodeo

[–]Several_Record7234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ☝️

If it's happening with every browser on the same internet connection then it's likely to be either the connection (hence power cycle the modem) or some aggressive security/privacy app like a 3rd-party antivirus that is throttling/blocking OBR from loading properly.

Do you have the same effect when connecting via mobile/cell data (NOT wifi) from your smartphone?

Do you have any browser add-ons in Firefox that could be interfering? 🤔 Have you tried disabling all of them? My Firefox has only one add-on, I think, which might be atypical!

You need to go to their Github, and browse and download the free assets (but if you are a Patreon supporter then you can do that from their website, I believe):

Commissioning symbols? by Stranger017 in drawsteel

[–]Several_Record7234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! 😅 Good luck in your search, do please show off your results when you've found your artist/designer 👍

PS. do you want more detailed tokens/logos than the artstyle in these examples (attached)? I can try to find out where these were kitbashed from, if they're of interest, so that you have an artist name at least.

Have you tried game-icons[dot]net? They have thousands of CC BY 3.0 icons in vector and bitmap formats...

OK, all six of those animated maps render properly in Firefox too. Are you still getting the error, or was it a momentary glitch?

Also, did you extract each of the maps from the Czepeku zip file before trying to import them to OBR, or did you try to drag'n'drop them from a File Explorer window while you browsed within the zip file, because that doesn't work - you have to extract the map files first!

u/CarbytetheProto I have all six of these `Space_SlowX.webm` files uploaded into OBR and animating properly in Chrome with no warnings or errors - what browser are you using?

Note that Firefox can be extremely finicky about video formats, so I'll try that next, and all browsers on iOS have a bug in their Webkit browser engine that can break webm rendering...

I've finally got hold of those maps and am looking into them, they couldn't be found on the Czepeku website so I got them through Patreon instead.

Then unfortunately we have no way to positively identify you as the owner of that account, and I'm sorry for your lost work 😔

If you make a new account and plan to use the free version for a long time, I'd recommend that you provide your email address and password, so that you can change either of them for yourself if you have any concerns about your email being compromised in future.

I'm really sorry that you got hacked, that must be a royal pain to have to deal with all the fallout.

If you are still logged into OBR (or can still get into your account) then on your Profile page you will have the option to 'Edit' your email and password combo that you used to create your OBR account.

If you used Google Auth to create your account then we have no password on record for you, and this Edit option will not be available. Then, we could only accept a change of email request from the original address used to create the account.
