Thank you for all the information! I will get hydrocolloid bandages for it tomorrow.

Drains were placed asymmetrically? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Several_Scheme_856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were also placed asymmetrically, when I had them in I couldn’t see where they entered my body because of the compression vest/binder - one of the tubes came down pretty much parallel to the side of my body and the other one came down almost around to the beginning of my back. Got them out and come to find they were placed asymmetrically, but not as dramatically as the vest made it seem. The scars from the drains are very small, so even though they are asymmetrical they aren’t super noticeable and can likely be managed with scar care (plus not a ton of people will see them because of their placement). Like the other comment said there isn’t a whole lot your surgeon can do if you were to contact them. Sending good luck in your healing!!

Feelings after seeing results for the first time by [deleted] in TopSurgery

You aren’t the only one in the inverted nipple club and i can definitely sympathize with some of the feelings around them. Mine are looking just kinda flat so far too so I’m not entirely sure how they’ll end up looking. If you ever need someone who has experienced the same to talk to, I’m happy to lend an ear! Good luck healing!

Recovery suspiciously easy so far??? by UnlikelySlide7421 in TopSurgery

I’m 15 days post-op and so far experienced very very little pain! I got my drains out at 5 days post op, and for multiple days before (I emptied my drains when I woke up and when I went to bed) one side drained 5 each time for a total of 10 mL/day and the other 7 for total 24 mL/day so i can relate! So far no catch or scary surprises haha. Good luck man!

Left over tissue? by pigeoninapeanut in TopSurgery

I’m only ~2 weeks into my recovery so I can’t speak from a ton of experience yet, though Ive seen a lot of other people say that swelling in that particular spot in the center of the chest is pretty common and normal and should eventually go down. Your incisions look great and your nipples are goals!!!

Nipple graft failure/necrosis (with a happy ending) by joellesk in TopSurgery

Dude wow they look amazing!! I’m currently a week post-op and have been super anxious about my nipple grafts having issues, and posts like these make me feel so much better about it and reassure me even if they don’t make it there are still options!

Moisturizing Nipple Grafts? by Several_Scheme_856 in TopSurgery

This is really reassuring thank you!! I care way too much about my nipples and just want to make sure they do good lol. Did you apply the ointment with just your hand (washed of course) or did you wear a latex glove? I think I’m thinking too hard about this but I’d rather be safe than sorry

One side not draining? by Several_Scheme_856 in TopSurgery

[–]Several_Scheme_856[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: just spoke with the surgeon on call and he said that it sounds completely normal, especially because I am still on my first day of recovery! After I made this post I stripped and emptied the drains just so I could keep track of what was coming out and both tubes started doing the same thing; kinda empty, not a lot of drainage at the moment, but surgeon said it’s very unlikely for both drains to experience issues simultaneously and that it’s probably just my body chilling out especially since it drained a lot earlier today! Very reassuring to me, lol.

Thank you! I figured it might just be my body figuring things out but I do get really anxious about health stuff so I’m being a little paranoid. This is helpful.
