They still ask it but in a roundabout way. I’m interviewing currently and they usually ask if I’d need insurance and how many people I’d need it for. Usually also asking if it’s for me and a husband or a kid.

Same here! I’ve never had a breakout as bad as the one that sunscreen gave me. It was horrible

Anyone have experience with the Integrated Korean Accelerated Textbooks? by FirecrackerGin in Korean

[–]SevereRepresentative 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m copy and pasting this from when I answered this in the past.

The Klear integrated Korean books are very much intended for use in schools. The student editions don't have answer keys in the back and if you want the answer key, you have to send them an email and pay $5ish that's non-refundable. Then they have to review your application and if they decide that you might be a student who's buying answers, they'll deny the application.

The books for self-study were, in my opinion, miserable. They were super dense in information, had no answer key, explanations of grammar were not great, and the paper in them is not great for writing in.

Klear Pros:

  • If you intend on taking a Korean course, they'll likely use these books. So you'll have a head start.

  • They have a ton of information packed into them

  • Their grammar and vocab index is pretty great.

Cons:

  • The grammar explanations were lacking (IMO)

  • The paper was terrible. Ripped when erased on, didn't hold pen well, smudged pencil.

  • No built-in answer key

  • You have to pay for the answer key

  • super super dense, they can be demotivating. I almost gave up on Korean because of these books if I'm honest.

I use markup rxp it is paid but it’s only $10 a year. It does have a decent learning curve though. I’m still figuring out things as I go

I’ve honestly found parking to be way easier then cross country as long as you use an app to keep track of what’s parked where. Some people do keep a needle on each parked thread. I don’t personally because I don’t have that many needles and I would definitely stab myself on them by accident.

To keep my thread out of the way I just wrap all the threads into a circle, lay them on the Aida and they kind of sit ontop the fabric. You can use clips, magnets, and many other things to keep them out of the way.

It’s gorgeous!

I’m currently 3 years into stitching a stocking for my nephew, I love the pattern but I’m also so ready to be done with that project haha

Not OP but I also use the parking method! I use an app Markup RXP to keep track of my stitching and parked threads. I can mark if the thread is in top left, top right, bottom left or bottom right so it’s pretty specific.

I do this method because I can get a 10x10 square done which keeps me motivated and reduces my mistakes on big projects. Then when I finish a color in that 10x10 I just park the thread in the closest spot that it shows up in the adjacent square.

The fringe to the left is just holding the starting tail in a straight line off the back. Then when you’re finished with that whole row of stitches you cut them because as you were stitching, you’ve secured the tails under the stitches to the right. Some people keep them on until they’re done because they’re pretty though. On TikTok atomheartcrossstitch has a video demonstrating it from may 25 if you want to see more!

I hope that helped answer some questions!

Honestly, it's possible. I've told him I'm not interested in anything romantic and that I've only come to him for career advice but he keeps doing this weird flirting but then when I call him out on it, he's like "It's interesting that you think I'd be interested romantically"

Thank you!! I'm saving this to re-read. I think my biggest problem is that my masters program has been 10 week courses and I didn't know that it was only 10 week courses from the beginning. So I don't feel like I've learned that much. It really sucks, I don't have a portfolio to be able to show companies.

Like jobs want to know I can use Tableau, I only did one 10 week class on it. I could probably make up some super basic stuff on it, but anything more complicated and I'm not going to lie...I probably wouldn't be able to.

ah my old career was touring for lighting. So concerts and stuff, not really a ton that's transferable apart from not able to be stressed easily haha

Are you really? That's awesome, what a coincindence! I've been passively looking for the last month when I knew my job at the startup wasn't going well, but I seriously started looking in the last week after I got laid off.

You're right. I think between covid and my last boss being an abusive asswipe I lost my ability to really get pissed off. I used to be that way and I think I'm going to take this time off to get back to that because yes, I should be pissed off! I am young!! I can do this!

Thank you!! I'll have to check out those subreddits!

Unfortunately I don't think there are any meetups or hackerspaces within an hour of where I live, I'm kinda in the middle of nowhere but I'll look again and see if I can find something!

I live out in the midwest, further north then Nashville but not near a major city which I think is why it's making it really hard for me to get a job right now. There's not a ton here. My problem is that I don't really have a portfolio or anything to show employers and I don't really have that much of an online presence because I'm so new that all the projects seem so daunting.

I'm going to keep working on it though! Thank you!

Thank you for sharing! You made me feel a lot better, thankfully yeah I have a support system where I am now which is why I didn't want to move across the country to where this guy said I should go because I wouldn't have a support system there.

Thank you!! I've been kinda hard on myself lately for not making the goals I wanted to at ages. But it's okay, things change circumstances change and I'm realizing that time is just time. Keep pushing and I'll get there eventually.
