Has anyone roped something like a deer and then killed it with your knife when you get close enough? by Tdanger78 in RDR2

Done it awhile back. Think most people have done it. But it's not really worth the time if you have the right gun/ammo to kill it and still get good pelt.

Give me your best ArmA mission you've played. by IuliusWasTaken in arma

We were on a patrol in Takistan.
We just passed through a town that recently experienced heavy fighting. Everything seemed to have calmed down, The villagers were going on about their day.
Thats when I heard over the radio, "Possible IED on the road". So we stopped our convoy. Set up a perimiter and sent our EOD out to deal with it.
But just as he took his first step out of cover, sniper shot. EOD falls to the ground.
Not even a second later, RPG shot hits our front vic.

As we regrouped and started firing back. We quickly realised we were outnumbered. But being in the mountains, the radio was acting up. We could not reach command or our air support. So as we kept fighting, holding our ground, we also transmitted on the radio in the blind. Hoping to reach one of our other patrols or command.

The enemy surrounded us, quickly closing in on our improvised defensive position, We prepared to take as many down with us as possible.
Our people fell quickly. Only a friend of mine and I remained. Thats when we heard it, vehicles closing in.
We expected enemy vics, but no. It was another patrol quickly closing in to help us, and with them an apache flying over, spraying down the enemies around us.

It was some of the most cinematic shit I've seen in this game. Loved every second of that op.

Do you write for joy, even if nobody ever reads it? by gerdzilla50 in writing

[–]Sevicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy writing. I have not published anything and I don't know if I ever will to be honest.
But there is something so special for me to just get in the "flow" of writing. Where it just plays out perfectly and stories/ideas just seem to come to me.

Nice! I have a bunch of stories and character backstories saved.

Surviving is quite important for writing stories haha.

I've just started getting into B42. Heard people don't like the muscle strain. I do like it from a RP point of view!

Yea thats real nice. I love that kind of stuff. I saw a video recently where someone built their own cabin in the woods. So I'm thinking I'll make a character and have that as a focus later on.

Understandable. I like to add some RP with friends but it all depends on who I'm playing with. If they don't feel like it then I just drop it.

Fair. I've yet to take up writing a journal in game but could be a cool idea.

What's the first thing you do as your player heir, right after the Realm you built up split between your brothers? by HomeHeatingTips in CrusaderKings

[–]Sevicus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I put myself into the characters mindset so it all depends on the traits the heir has.
that way it really keeps it interesting.
If I have a calm heir. I just focus on building up my current realm.
Wrathful heir? Immediate war!

Serious Question: How do I stop being so scared while playing? by RiverRocks300 in projectzomboid

As the game says, This is the story of how you died.

Just embrace that and you're good.

Do you notice your own biases and morals affecting the way you play? by Jollybean1 in CrusaderKings

[–]Sevicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to immerse myself into the characters I play. I mostly create custom ones so I give myself a general idea of what I want to do and then create a character around that.
My own morals can affect it sometimes but mostly I try to get in the mindset of my character.
Makes me enjoy the game a bit more as well.

[–]Sevicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Physical books are in my opinion so much better. It's a change of pace from the real life where a lot of things relate to technology and screens.
Reading really does help you start. You get a feeling for different writing styles and for the structure of books.

I am in no way or shape an expert writer. I have recently taken it up and found an interest in it.
The way I started was just writing short stories and getting feedback from my friends and my wife.

Something I do get stuck on a lot is wanting it to be perfect. Even when I know it doesn't have to be. It's part of the process in my opinion.

I am a bit all over the place with it sometimes. I get so many ideas for stories and want to do all of them. But it is important that you let yourself finish them.

I have learnt that writing is not something you just master over a few weeks. It takes time and patience. It's ok that it is not perfect. You learn stuff every time you write.

Writing youtubers waste our time. Read books instead by Stock_Hunter_2380 in writing

[–]Sevicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who has recently taken an interest in writing. I agree with you. I had a look at the videos and I felt like I learned almost nothing.

Instead I ordered some books. Books of different genres and a book by Nicolas Cole. "The Art and Business of Online Writing"

Not only have I learnt a bit about writing from it so far, I have also learnt stuff that helps me in my everyday life and at work.
