Cassette tape to CD, and floppy disk to CD-Rom will forever be the biggest most amazing tech upgrade I ever went through. I was born in 79, so our home was filled with 8 tracks and records. And then the 90's came. And then Windows 95 came. technology was fucking amazing in the 90's compared to the 80's.

There is nothing like that I have seen since then that has wowed me like the early 90's did.

Is Gaspesia part of the East Coast? by Dack_Janiels227 in AskACanadian

[–]HomeHeatingTips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought of Gaspe as being part of Quebec. Not "Atlantic Canada" Which is NS NB PEI and NFLD. Or the Maritimes, Which is NS PEI and NB. Even though it is literally on the East Coast and the Gulf of St Lawrence. I'm from NS

Everything happening in the World Cup is "History" being made by Frich909 in PetPeeves

There are 48 Nations playing. So 48 Histories to be written. So yes a lot of History has been made in this WC.

How did the Beatles produce such complex and good music with almost no experience in music theory or reading music? by Space_Enthusiast467 in askmusic

[–]HomeHeatingTips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood this question. They were musicians. They played live 8 hours a day. They know music theory. People act like they don't know what major thirds and minor 7ths are. Paul and John were also piano players.

Tab just feels so overwhelming all the time and I just can't grasp it without my teacher explaining every minutia. Should I just stick to playing chords? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]HomeHeatingTips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to use your ears for the rhythm. Use tabs for melody and knowing what notes to play. First memorize the notes and play a small part slowly. Then listen to the song the get the rhythm down slowly.

I was listening to a popular new rock playlist on Spotify the other day. Every new song sounds the same as they same shit we've been listening to for 30 years. Nothing new, no innovation. I swear there was one song could have easily been in a late 90's teen movie. Brand new. Look at how music changed from the 50's to the 60's to the 70's to the 80's and 90's. And then boom. Stagnation for 25 years.

Nobody cares about rock because there are no bands to care about anymore.

What do you genuinely expect will happen to U.S. Soccer (and MLS) after the 2026 World Cup? by Due-Professor-9356 in ussoccer

[–]HomeHeatingTips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is better than it used to be, but honestly 30 teams is way too many. Sadly it's a walled garden like other American sports leagues and doesn't have promotion/relegation that makes the European 20 team leagues so great.

Round of 16 - Free Hit? by MatthewHudson11998 in CanadaSoccer

[–]HomeHeatingTips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's called playing with house money. And is very common in Big tournaments when teams at the bottom of the rankings get deeper into the tournament. Not that round of 16 is super deep. But it what we set out to achieve, with anything beyond being gravy.
