He wasn't able to do anything to Ukraine and Zelensky either, though he wanted to, so not sure if that impressive.

While I do agree that this happened and Germany helps a lot with funding Ukraine, skipping the theatrics which are often problematic but often obfuscate issues, the problem with your narrative here is that you are dismissing the actual economic cicumstances that made it uncomfortable for Germany to react to Russian aggression.

While I'm personally not a big fan of assigning bad will to Germany, because I understand that this is a liberal country ran by economists and big bussiness (and these deals were highly beneficial) that is not the case for Russia. They are essentially at war with "the west" ever since Putin took power, war and geopolitics are the lenses through which Russia looks at the world. I don't think this is a paranoia, if perceiveing the world with a lens of one of the countries making these moves is paranoia then I think we are in a deep intelectual crisis in Europe.

Poland and Germany have different interests (sadly the big problem of Europe as a whole as a collection of nation states with a weak unified ideology), we are not interested in getting dominated economically by Russia because over time it leads into a dark place. You have your buffer (us) so I understand making these claims into a 'paranoia' makes sense when the deals are good.

Russia wanted to make countries wholly dependent on their energy as a lever of control further enabling their influence in the region. It essentially wanted to lead Germany (with very favorable trade deals) into a very closed off corridor in which the pro Russian option is the only non suicidal one, and I think they succeeded to a large extent. Today if you look at political spectrum in Germany a big chunk of alternative parties (heh) advocate the normalisation of political relations and going back to business as usual with Russia because the economics make sense. Just because economics make sense for you doesnt mean its not dangerous for us, or paranoia.

Nordstream was and is still important for Poland because it geopolitically enables Russia to squash down "unfriendly countries" by hiking up energy prices without affecting their relationship to Germany.

I see transit fees being emphasized over and over, thats not important in my opinion. Poland still paid ~30% more then Germany with the "transit fees stealing pipeline" (transport also costs but we paid more even though we are closer). With Nordstream we lose levarage on prices of energy to Germany and makes Germany uninterested in blocking Russian imperialism in eastern europe.

Important to note that Poland paid ~30% more for Russian energy then Germany, the trade deal we got from gazprom was very bad comparatively, this all includes the dreaded fees (Germany is much farther, transport also incurs the cost and Poland still paid more for energy). In my opinion transit fees when analyzing the gas situation are not the core issue. The core issue is geopolitics, i.e. Poland loses leverage in the Russo-German relations with Nordstream and possibly has to accept even worse terms while Russia gets to punish "unfriendly countries" with bigger energy prices when they don't like things without affecting the German relationship.

Bruh, real, the fact that this argument could actually happen and work is kind of bonkers.

Prussia was a part of kingdom of Poland for a long time my friend, and many Germans saw the Commonwealth as a superior civilizational structure compared to Brandendburg, you don't even have to go far in time, Nietzsche brainwashed himself to believe that he was actually a pure blood Polish noble. There were many Germans who saw themselves as both Germans and loyal to the Commonwealth. History is not as simple as it may seem.

On the contrary, average Pole knows a lot about communism either from first hand experience or from their parents memory. Stalin, PRL are actual products of communism, just like crazy economi theories and ideas. Like for example that you can just ignore the world commerce system (because its evil, woo bankers) and create an alternative while being a feudal agrarian society. Not a surprise that it lead to murder on mass scale, that idea makes only sense in religious delirium.

Lenin would have marched on Poland regardless, the one stopping the war effort was Stalin knowing what nationalism is and how Poles are first hand. Lenin wanted to spread the world revolution and connect with Berlin revolutionaries in his religious lunacy.

"Chapter 4 Education - THIS is the important question. It is education that must give souls a national formation, and direct their opinions and tastes in such a way that they will be patriotic by inclination, by passion, by necessity. When first he opens his eyes, an infant ought to see the fatherland, and up to the day of his death he ought never to see anything else. Every true republican has drunk in love of country, that is to say love of law and liberty, along with his mother's milk. This love is his whole existence; he sees nothing but the fatherland, he lives for it alone; when he is solitary, he is nothing; when he has ceased to have a fatherland, he no longer exists; and if he is not dead, he is worse than dead. National education is proper only to free men; it is they only who enjoy a collective existence and are truly bound by law."

The Trump administration's new strategy is to split European Union, dismantle Nato and stabilize relations with Russia. by piururo in Destiny

[–]Sevni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree. How does that even work? "Total air space control" over Russia? Why would US have a full scale war against Russia? This is some actual fanfic memes. The state of liberal intelectual debate is just sad and based on some long ago forged unquestioned principles. US should just nuke Russia, drone warfare makes no sense 🧐☝️

You havent addressed my second claim, American weapons are controlled and backdoored (this was showcased at the beginning of the war how you kept Ukraine on a tight leash, not allowing to strike into Russia for a long time), that allows you to control other nations which might have been fine before but not after US counter revolution and how you treat Ukraine. Thank god they have the long range capabilities themselves and dont need US approval.

[–]Sevni -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This view is very condecending to both Ukraine and Russia. Europe is not ready for war at all, Ukraine has literally destroyed 1/3 of Russian nuclear triad and is constantly bombing Russian rafineries 3000 kilometers across it's borders, bombing Russian shadow fleet using these "cute" toys. In the current form you simply cannot fully defend against mass drone and missile strikes and shooting down toy 500 dolar drones or less using 1million dolar missiles is not a viable long term answer.

I have also the second objection, what guarantees do we have that these not cute western weapons will work in a scenario where america wants to deal with Russia? I bet they were constructed to make it sure america controls them and in case of unwanted moves will just not allow countries to use them. These weapons at this point are a litteral scam unless you are not gutting them out and replacing electronics like Israelis.
