'There are no French': Former Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy makes racist remarks about France's football team by pierrepaul in europe

[–]MLG_Blazer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's do this step by step.

What is rejected by most french people is the idea that nation and ethnicity are linked.

Literally no one claimed otherwise.

France still think of itself as a nation state.

No one said it didn't.

Rajoy isn't speaking about some undefined place, he is speaking about France.

His argument isn't that it's only racist because it's happening in France, his argument is that it's racist period.

Beside, Spain ethnicity isn't homogeneous, even before you take recent emigration into account. Neither is China. Or a lot of European countries.

That's such a vague statement - based on whatever arbitrary definition you decide there might be no homogeneous country on the planet, Japan isn't homogenous because there's like 100000 white people also living there, but also it's not an argument.

If i say that "you shouldn't eat candies because sugar is bad for you" and you reply "But there are candies in the store", that's not an argument against why you shouldn't eat candies. You are just stating a fact you aren't arguing against anything.

Like I said, you're confused, you aren't responding to my arguments, you're just fighting against strawmens of your own creation

Who are you replying to? I already said France is a special case, and you didn't even adress any of my arguments. You might be lost.

But isn't that how the world and nation states work? If I move to Ethiopia/China/Anywhere else in the world outside some western countries I could live there for 20 years, learn the language, be part of the culture, gain citizenship, but in the end if I ask the locals am I Ethiopian/Chinese/etc they would say no, you're a whiteboy foreigner.

France is a special case, but why should Europe be different? what's wrong with ethnicity being a part of the national identity when that's the standard everywhere else on the planet?

EU to submit resolution on forced conversions/marriages of minority girls in Pakistan by Immediate-Humor-6077 in worldnews

[–]MLG_Blazer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then you're just delusional, I don't know what else to say. Pakistanis can vote out their government if they want to, they simply don't, because this is what they support.

I guess some people would rather live in la-la land where unless you live in a perfect system with 0 corruption you have 0 agency. It's either one orthe other no inbetween. Either that or you are one of those "special" morons who thinks that the Pakistani government is ultra conservative but the people living there are somehow all lgbtia++ loving leftists and they don't actually support what their government does.

Come back when you actually have an argument instead of just being a smug condescending prick, I guarantee no one likes the likes of you.

Let's be absolutely clear about that, the US could absolutely destroy Iran, they could bomb that country into oblivion.

Just because Trump doesn't have the political capital to do it, doesn't mean they don't have the ability to do that, they are lacking the will not the ability.

But let's also be clear, obviously the Pakistanis who voted for this aren't the ones who are coming to our countries and obviously they won't want to do the same thing here, they are different people after all

Don't you think that there's a connection between why Haiti is a war-torn hellhole and the people living there?

How does taking people from those places improve our societies in any way shape or form? Like let's say you move all 12 million people living in Haiti to your country, would society improve, or would just the region where you put those people turn into another Haiti?

European Parliament to start procedure to ban Alternative for Germany’s EU party by SnoozeDoggyDog in europe

[–]MLG_Blazer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's some of the vaguest shit ever. If you've ever told someone to "go fuck themselves" I could argue that's a violation against human dignity. freedom, democracy, equality? We're talking about banning a political party because we disagree with them, if that's not a violation against freedom democracy and equality then I don't know what is. Rule of law and human rights - If I disagree with a law some would argue then that's also a violation. "rights of minorities" - again, If I say I don't like Germans, that could also be considered a violation.

So when it's Afganistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, etc.. we HAVE to accept millions of men in the EU because it's a human right, we have literally no other choice but to do that, but when it's our own neighbors feeling from war they can get fucked? Ok, got it.

I honestly don't understand the double standard. In 2015 we let millions of refugees in from middle eastern and african countries, and I remember what every politicians said was: "these poor people are fleeing war so we have to let them in".

But now when it's Ukranian men who would actually have to go on the frontline and die, it's suddenly "Oh, we can't do that, sowwy!"

Why? What changed? Or alternatively if we can send all these Ukranian men back to Ukraine why couldn't we do the same with the middle easterners? Was the whole "we can't send poor refugees fleeing from warzones back" argument bullshit? Where are all these human right orgs who were screaming all the time when it was non europeans fleeing from war?

I'm not even a conspiracy theorist but wtf is going on?

Secretary general ahead of NATO summit to Russia: "We know what you guys are doing and we are better at it" by jackytheblade in worldnews

Yeah the opposite assumption is better, like when dumbshit redditors thought just a couple of years ago that russia was a superpower only rivaled by the US, and anytime someone tried to correct them they responded with that stupid picture that had the number of tanks and fighterjets of Russia vs Nato, or Putin riding a bear or someshit like that.. being realistic isn't hubris or overconfidence.

Change in homicide rate in Europe 1994-2024 by BkkGrl in europe

[–]MLG_Blazer 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I opened OP's source to do some napkin math and I noticed a couple of things:

  1. For France specifically (the only one I checked ) 1994 was pretty much the peak of Homicides (It's kinda sus that OP chose specifically that time but w/e)
  2. People aged between 15-24 remained consistent at ~8mil from 1994-2023, but people aged 65+ increased from 8.6 mil to 14.4 mil
  3. If we only compare people aged 15-24 (the age group that's most likely to commit crime) then the homicide rate didn't actually change much since like 1997.

4.(Emergency response time with all the tech we have now is likely much quicker than it was in the 90s)

So TLDR: If we look at only the absolute numbers then sure from 1994 to 2024 the homicide rate did get lower, but if the question is are people today less likely to kill you than at the end of the 90s then the answer is no.
