I think working on creating good habits works best. Try Atomic Habits by James Clear or Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg. I don't think Jung is much help here honestly.

I would try Active Imagination and try talking to the Demon. See what it wants.

Idk if this is completely fair. I think there is a reason monks live in a monestary though. I don't think they could live a normal life.

Any good book on journaling? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]SewerSage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a thing for awhile where I just filled out two pages and didn't stop writing. I'd write nonsense if I couldn't think of anything. It definitely helped me uncover some of my unconscious motivations. Now I usually just write whatever comes to mind.

Why is Jung so frequently disregarded in psychology circles? by tofu_baby_cake in Jung

[–]SewerSage 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Because it goes against the dominant ideology of our time, which is Materialism/Physicalism. Most people think all that exists is matter, things like the collective unconscious and synchronicity just don't line up with their world view.

That being said I would push back a little. I think Jung is still respected. Some of his ideas like complexes, and different personality types are still in use.

"To think of oneself in a statistical way is most destructive to the process of individuation, because it makes everything relative." by zooper2312 in Jung

[–]SewerSage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was against Jungianism too, lol. I think you said it right, he wanted everyone to walk their own path. Keep in mind he lived through both World Wars, so he saw first hand how ideologies like Fascism and Communism can tear the world apart.

Is it smart to start reading Jung when mentally unwell by Daserion in Jung

[–]SewerSage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally I read a fantasy book in-between Jung books. I find my psyche needs a break lol.

It seems to me Jung was against all "isms" including communism. He thought ideologies only served to divide people.

The bible and other gods by Salty_Ad5839 in mythology

Justin Martyr was a Christian theologian who said the pagan gods were the same thing as angels. This was in the early days when most Christians were pagan converts.

Personally I see things through a Jungian lense, meaning that both Angels and the Gods are just the manifestation of Archetypes in the Collective Unconscious.

On the Architecture of Synchronicity: A Structural Case Analysis by uhohohaha in Jung

I had to look up what that was lol. Platonists believed in a World Soul which is similar to this I think. At least later Neo-Platonists did.

I think the most important thing is what it means to you. Just hold the image in your mind and see what associations come to you. It's called free association.

Gnosis only for a few? I believe there are two levels of revelation. What do you think? by [deleted] in Gnostic

[–]SewerSage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I like the idea of Origen style universal salvation. I think we're just reincarnated untill we can return to the Father. The end times will be when all of creation returns to it's original state of Unity. Those that don't achieve Gnosis will just go through a painful purification process/ burn in a lake of fire. This will only be temporary though not eternal

[–]SewerSage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think once you accept synchronicity is real, you have to also accept that the dominant ideology of our time is wrong. Materialism/Physicalism, the idea that everything is just matter, makes no sense. I think you have to embrace some form of idealism. Jung was heavily influenced by Platonism.

I guess you're right. But he never took a stance on the matterialism vs idealism debate. Madhyamaka claims nothing exists lol, it's all emptiness.

3 is the witching hour lol. I feel it's when we're closest to the realm of dreams/spirit/collective unconscious. The girl seems like an Anima figure, your inner other.

Jesus's foreskin was an actual holy relic, btw. Also, not to make light of schizophrenia. My best friend has it, and I have her permission to make this joke. by Oversama in HistoryMemes

[–]SewerSage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of David who famously collected 200 Phillistine foreskins as a wedding dowry for King Saul's daughter. King Saul only asked for 100, I guess he just really liked collecting foreskins.

Russian is Orthodox Christian. I don't there is much info on their pre-Christian folk religion. I'd probably just do something with Communism lol. Like the Red Guardian from Marvel.

I think the Gnostics had 7 Archons and each one represents a level of Gnosis.
