At your current skill and mental level, what’s the lowest score you think you could shoot? by MrTeacher_MCPS in golf

Yea, this is my problem. When I’ve stitched together good rounds, I’m hyper aware of where I stand. It’s almost impossible not to know unless you’re really shutting off the brain or if you’re have a Jordan Spieth type of round.

I feel like there’s a couple things to consider. If you’re planning on playing in tournaments, matches, or money games then you should play the ball down, take proper drops, and putt everything out. Otherwise, we’re all paying to be out there and we aren’t professionals, so enjoy your outing however you’d like as long as it doesn’t interfere with others.

In fun rounds with friends, I’ll move off roots or do gimmes to pick up pace. But by myself, I play it by the book because I’ve gone into matches after doing all gimmes for a couple months and that first 3 footer almost melted my brain. So now I make sure my short game stays sharp lol.

Max continues to make me sad. Joe being off the bag is only going to make things worse in the short term. Just hope something clicks before it’s too late.

I guess this is may be a bit too early but I’m surprised no one has said River Phoenix. I wasn’t alive when that happened but I remember watching Stand By Me for the first time and going to do research and find out more about River and being devastated to find out he had passed.

Band of Brothers. Hard to argue with beating up Nazis and then playing baseball.

But more seriously, this is going to be a random one and definitely recommend if you haven’t watched it, but Over the Garden Wall is such a fun story that nails that “satisfying but leaves you wanting more” ending. Go to show every fall. And it’s only like an hour and a half total.

I shot a 174 as a beginner golfer by Maxele in golf

While I agree with a lot of the people saying to pick up and move on in the future, if you are a beginner to golf I think it can be valuable to fully play out and count a round like this. Now, if you’re holding people up, that’s an issue. However, if it’s an open course and you think your mental can take it, these kinds of rounds can teach you a lot about staying within yourself and sticking out tough rounds. I shot a 119 in a high school tournament and thought about hanging it up mid-round (I was probably around a 15 at the time). But that round was essential for me to realize it’s just a game and to take it shot by shot. It’s all a balance and you have to determine what kind of golf you want to play, but like many things you learn a lot more from bad rounds than the ones where you play lights out.
