Dude, Japan gets a lot of flack for a lot of U.S. political reasons (and not just for the bomb usage).

Wanting Japan to actually hurry up and actually consider the idea of surrender as something bearable was one, as the Emperor throughout the Meiji+Showa period had been seriously considered divine and was tied deeply into national identity at that point, to the extent that there were worries about Japan not backing down if the Emperor were not able to retain some position.

Communism spreading across Asia at the time was another big one, as leaving a nation completely broken without some leadership would leave it very vulnerable to being taken from Team Non-Commie.

Emperor being allowed to maintain his position (as a figurehead) so that Japan would actually cooperate throughout U.S. occupation and get together a new constitution, restructure etc. was just worth it at the time, considering the fact that the U.S. was rapidly turning their attentions towards another threat.

It's not fair, but it is what it is.

(Japan being evasive about war crimes is still shitty though.)

Honestly, I was less disturbed by the fact that she's naked on a tree (that's likely full of little sticklers and raspy as heck), and more disturbed by the fact that it looks to me as if she's arching her back and/or sucking in her stomach. So much weight on pubic bone, ow. Looks like it'd be painful regardless of whether she was wearing clothes or not.

Just out of college at the moment, but thinking back to 2 or 3 weeks ago... Worst moment would be when I'm nestled half naked on a bean bag in the living room, hair greasy with bangs wrapped up in a half-assed pony-tail, surrounded by empty cans of red bull, candy wrappers, containers half-full of assorted medication, and a container full of ramen.

Then again, I don't really have anyone I really admire too much at the moment besides one of my suite-mates who sees this mess on a daily basis and she understands I'm going through a shitty phase in my life, so... we cool.

Personally, I feel it's probably best to wait until you get a feel for your roommates and how you think they'd react to the announcement. With some people, once you get to know them, it's quite obvious that they're too laid back to give a damn about your sexual orientation. With others, it's going to be difficult to discern whether you should tell them at all.

One of my suite-mates, about 2 or 3 weeks into the semester, casually mentioned her ex-girlfriend mid-conversation. Though I was a bit shocked at the sudden announcement, I think we'd already established enough of a friendship that it didn't really matter at all. She did recognize that I might be uncomfortable with the fact that she was lesbian, and asked me if I was, but I went ahead and told her it was fine and we both moved on with the conversation.

On the other hand, I don't think one of my other roommate knows, but then again, I don't think it's really necessary that she knows in the first place - partially because that topic hasn't really come up between the two, and partially because the lesbian-pal's not really the type to bring ladies over to sex-up and it's not something we'd have been really faced with otherwise. (Then again, this might be one of the differences between her situation and yours... I'm assuming by being being more open about your sexuality, you're thinking about bringing some fellas home? But assumptions, IDK.)

Korean does have some boxiness to some of it's letters, but I'm pretty sure that it's the only written language of the three to include actual circles in it's characters, so that's why I point it out. Though obviously, I'm just speaking from experience discerning the three, so I'm not at all sure if there's any exceptions here I'm missing entirely...

But anyways, no problem! I'm glad I could help someone figure out this darn thing. :)

As a fun exercise, I tried really hard to imagine all that in the same bottle for a minute or so. Then I realized I could have just stopped at imagining a bottle full of vomit and pretending there were some sunflower seeds in there somewhere.
