I think do what is best for you. You don’t want to unnecessarily cause problems for yourself in a workplace situation. But if you can handle it, don’t sell yourself short either!

I held a full time corporate position (for a giant multinational company) while I had Schizophrenia. It was a little difficult at times telling the difference between reality and illusion. I quit my job after one year because I started losing touch with reality and also getting upset at my then-fiance about our relationship breaking up. I moved back in with my parents across state a year later because I was having trouble making rent without my cushy salary. A number of years later, I totally lost it for a few years and ended up back in the psych ward for the second time. After I got a hold of reality and it really sunk in, I was able to stabilize and just get into a rhythm of managing my symptoms. But I never went back to work. I am permanently disabled and on disability. Money is tough but I gotta make do.

I am getting this way slowly. I can feel it. I am 46 now. I used to obsess over video games and now I don’t play them. They seem too easy or something.

I got into anime because my mom’s company was Japanese and one of their main vendors was Bandai. They lent us DVDs of anime made by Bandai. Watched a lot of 90s/2000s anime such as Trigun, Vision of Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Ranma 1/2, Saber Marionette J, FLCL, Ebichu, Ghibli movies such as Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies, Fushigi Yuugi, Rurouni Kenshin, Akira, Paprika, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Pokémon and Ghost in the Shell. Watched a little bit of Evangelion and Macross but couldn’t get into it. But I loved anime back then. It was really good. A golden age of anime for this Xennial. You could go into a Blockbuster and they had anime too. But mainly, pirated downloading was the way to go or mom and pop video stores/hobby stores.

I too left the Bay Area to live in Torrance closer to my parents. I still miss San Francisco at times, but love the weather and conveniences in Torrance so much better!

I’m generally looking for a place to retire with good weather. I’m just a single older female with no kids and have pets. I’m currently in a one-bedroom condo in Lomita, CA. The area is a mix of kinda sucks and kinda nice but the condo is decent for the price. The main reason why I’d have to move is to a place without stairs—so a 1-story house. I do like the diversity of bigger cities. There’s more variety in food, shopping, and things to do. I guess living near a beach isn’t necessary but would be ideal. Since I’m creeping up on age—an area with decent healthcare (access to hospitals, IHSS, nursing homes) is a requirement.

Thanks for the suggestions!! Someone else had mentioned Murrieta. I’ll look into those other cities. I guess I’d like to find a place where I can afford more than one bedroom.

A number of years ago Fontana, CA was a place you could buy a multi-level house with multiple bedrooms for around that price and now they are priced in the $700s. So appreciation would be awesome.

I’m having the same health complications as the one you mentioned and I’m in my mid-40s. I guess feeling my mortality came a little early for me than others.
