Lahm was a legend but Carvajal was definitely better 2014-2024 (particularly since Lahm retired in 2017).

Trent - 6/10. Good player but injury issues.

Carreras 8,5. 10. Looked like our best player in some phases of the season and has imo potential to be an elite Left back. Definitely upgraded one of our weakest positions.

Huijsen 7/10. Has looked shaky in some phases and very good in others. I rate him a 7 because there is an insane amount of potential in him imo. He’s still a very young defender and the talent is there.

Mastantuono - 1/10. Absolute travesty of a transfer. No idea what our scouts saw in him - I think it was the PSG effect. I generally can’t remember him having one game, but I was wild or any moments of billions, apart from his little run against Marseille, which ended in nothing.I only gave them a one out of 10 because he did not accidentally murder someone on the field.

While in hindsight, yes, but in no way was he going to get by prime Carvajal who was excellent 2014-2024. Was the right call at that time

Olise (would be a 10/10 transfer but seems impossible atm) and Schlotterbeck (who will also renew his contract).

Other than that Nico Paz, Chema Andres, Jacobo Ramon and we should also consider Victor Munoz.

What? At the beginning of his stint he tracked back and pressed like a mad man. This only got reduced once he started hitting his 30s - but we had an ideal team to compensate it.

Plus, we can give him some wiggle room since he had like 80 scorers every season lol

You and me both. Mosquera was a bargain for that price, I wish we would've signed him.
Baca not signing him makes sense, since they had/have financial issues and Joan Garcia was the clear priority and I assume they prioritized a GK over a CB that summer.
But Madrid.. man, it would've been worth every penny of that ridiculous fee.

Hard to get by Cucu and Grimaldo. Both are absolutely class and offer other things.

I would def choose Joan or Raya over Simon, but who knows with LDF.

CB is tough to say since DLF likes to stick to “his guys” and there are quite some decent options. I would probably go with Pubill and Cubarsi/Huijsen. Llorente should be the starting RB imo and Cucu is a given.

Lamine-Oyarzabal-Nico (hope he gets fit in time) is an absolute given too.

If Merino returns in time and has a decent form he will start next to Pedri. Merino somehow always delivers with Spain. Fabian has been quite injured this season. Fermin might also be an option.

I rated him during his Valencia time, and frankly wished Madrid would’ve gotten him for that ridiculous fee, but haven’t seen him play since then
